Didnt watch the game today.

Question i have, what position did both Langford and Culley play??

Not sure if Langford was playing deep forward at times, but he had a few moments he should have marked the ball in the goal square. I was surprised to see his overhead marking being so poor. He could have had 5 goals today.

I thought it was as good as win as expected against a very poor side but the first half was very poor. Third quarter and second half of the fourth were great though. I am genuinely curious and somewhat excited about the next three weeks. A bit scared about the Bulldogs but genuinely optimistic vs Hawks and Pies.

16k today with no MCC and our poor run of recent results was better than I was expecting.

A win is always nice regardless of opponent (especially in a year as grim as this one) but most of my excitement coming out of today is about the young guys.

Culley with a great debut, Windsor looked confident for the first time in ages, Langford is a future superstar etc etc.

I’d also go so far as to say that Disco Turner looked deity-like.

MCC were able to purchase level 1 or 2 fo $20. I feel that quite a few took that deal up.

I reckon Langford was playing out of the goal square in the last quarter. Looked dangerous.

Definitely. Threatens in the air and on ground.

And the winner of the Rising Star is…

“ Ed Langford “

Crikey Kelli Underwood

When did she say that? When Langford marked the ball just outside the goal square in the last quarter she said something like it goes to the rising star "in Langford" not "Ed Langford". is that what you're referring to? She's no one's favourite commentator but I think you might be wrong here.

Culley with 7 marks & 2 goals was impressive. Why did we have to wait so long before seeing him in the seniors?

Classic demonland. Find a negative in a positive.🤣🤣

yep, went from the wing to playing the melksham role up forward

lots to like about his debut season - i personally think he should be in the conversation to win it, but i think curtin takes out the rising star award

Still betta than Kahlie Underwhatsit, with her commontatering and Olympic-level talent for renamin' players mid-game. “And that’s a great kick by... um... Tracc Danger... wait, who’s number 5 again?”

I turned Foxtel off as I could not her baracking for West Coast. During the third qtr after it was obvious to "blind freddy' we were never going to lose, her broard casting totally changed. Grrrr

One thing I noticed in today’s game was the leadership Petracca was demonstrating during goal breaks and during stoppages. He was very vocal and animated. Thought he looked very invested and it was great to see.

It's no surprise that the cohort of foul weather "supporters" who are always front and centre when things aren't going well are conspicuously absent from this thread.

It's almost (work with me here) as if they don't actually want us to do well.

That's about 50 percent more than some others.

At least the others have one-third of a brain cell, if my maths is correct.

I wonder how many actually paid?

It doesn’t really matter. Members paid for more than enough tickets even if the didn’t turn up. Crowd was big enough to pay for the food and drinks, toilets etc. No level 3 cleaning bill and probably about a 5 minute job to clean up level 2.

All things considered probably a decent result for what is never going to be a profitable home game for us.

Hopefully we can get 35-40k next week.

Some ok individual efforts, but hard to rate when you’re playing potatoes.

Actually, the reverse is true. It's in games like this against "weaker" opposition that you see what the team is capable of and what they/the coaches are trying to do.

It beats losing.

Yes.

West Coast are terrible, no praise for anyone, we played Fitzroy today

But still should have given 1st handball early, but like all was selfish.

Yes, was good after that, but there was no pressure today, VFL standard.

Under AFL pressure we all fold.

Maybe because you wait till he’s ready ..

Demolition job of a team that would struggle against park footballers.

Langford and Windsor looked good, Rivers and Turner were good in defence. Happy for Culley who took his chances. Fritsch had a pretty good game and Max was Max.

Hard to take much out of it, the Eagles were pathetic and we weren't much better for a bit more than half the game. The third quarter was fun though, don't get many 10 goal quarters.

If AI is to be believed, we have not kicked a bigger score in one quarter since 1991 when we kicked 10.3 against North Melbourne in Round 5.

(We also get 10.2 against Saint Kilda in 2000.)

We must have kicked more against the Giants in 2013 when Michael Evans went bananas.

I can’t say I agree with that. If the coaches game plan only works against the wooden spoon side that’s won one game for the season, I’d suggest all it shows is that said plan is bad. If you’re fighting a war and the opposing side lower their weapons and you wipe them out, it doesn’t mean you’re anymore capable.

We beat the Eagles, who travelled from Perth, and fielded a WAFL side. Some players played well (against a team that constantly kicked the ball straight to us at a kick out following a behind). There was zero pressure from West Coast, and they were as clueless and lost as we were during last week’s fourth quarter (but for the whole game). Some ok individual efforts, but hard to rate when you’re playing potatoes. Put the lids back on.

the hangover GIF

The number of times they turned it over inside our forward 50 under no pressure was astonishing, would have to be a record. Topped off with the kick straight to Trac, he must've thought all his Christmases had come at once.

West Coast were truly abysmal which you love to see. They can rot at the bottom of the ladder for years for all I care, they've been as much a thorn in my football life as the Hawks - will never forgive them for 1990, 91, 94 or 2018.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
