Feels odd they are offering Silvagni four years but only one to Mihocek. I canโ€™t see him leaving but hope he does.

Sounds too bad to be true

We gave Jordon Lewis 3years when Hawks new he only had I yr left in him

Brodie had a late start to his AFL career

I think heโ€™s worth the risk

Optimist in me says he'll be good for our fwd line and will provide leadership for our developing talls.

MFCSS in me says he'll prevent opportunities for Kentfield and Jefferson, they'll request trades and become succesfull key forwards at their new club and we'll get 3rd-4th round picks in return that we will package up for a slightly better 3rd round pick.

Who would that be?

Mihocek

Our midfield and coaching strategy should be able to turn this poor bloke into a spud

Hopefully picks up his second with us. Heโ€™s won the one premiership, not two.

He will have two premierships in a couple of months

Good player but turns 33 (early next year?)

But haven't we got 5 key forwards on the books and contracted?

Ben Brown was 29 when he came to us

It's a maybe for me leaning more towards a yes if there is a decent short term plan involved

But if we end up with Longmire as coach (pending what the Board does with Goodwin) then maybe 'Horse' can teach our KPF's how to play the position (being a former star forward himself)

4 years for Silvagni is bizarre. He has been dropped numerous times by a rabble of a club

Mihocek is an interesting one. 33 by round 1 next year so obviously a risk but we are desperate

We'd have to offer something stupid to get him to leave - like a 3 year deal

Disagree, heโ€™s been excellent down back and Collingwood know how to improve players and slot them in to roles. Hes exactly what they need and theyโ€™ll spread money over the 4 years. Theyโ€™re maximising their window.

We might be able to get Mihocek with 2 but his body has been through the absolute wars.

Assuming we can get Derksen and hopefully a back up ruck Iโ€™d rather back in our young guys. If that means living through more Melk and Petty then so be it but we donโ€™t need short term stop gaps.

I'll go against the flow and vote No. Consistent, strong, intelligent footballer but I think his best has already begun to slip down the wrong end of the bell curve, and he will be 33 next year. If he was 30-31 then yes.

But I reckon it is all spin. His management fishing for more $ and they will probably get it. No way do the Pies move him on, with McStay being injury prone and no other big forwards emerging.

Brisbane have other plans and Sydney might do as well if you believe the JUH rumours.

Even the bottom 6 have at least one quality veteran.

Itโ€™s really only us. Iโ€™m sure the Pies know it and are going to only offer what they need.

Four years at the alleged coin for Silvagni is bizarre. I do think thereโ€™s a hint of psy ops being played here by Collingwood.

I think they will slot hom at full back and it will work

For me it depends if Melksham plays on. If he doesnโ€™t then maybe we should.

Richmond have Lynch why would they be interested. Saints maybe.

If Buckley is Demons coach, would imagine increases likelihood of Mihocek coming to us, as Buckley gave Mihocek his initial opportunity!

I donโ€™t think the Filth would be letting him go. Unless Filth continue their slide and burn quickly in finals (and they opt for big changes) then I would say he stays put and gets the 2 years he is after.

Mihochek has been one of my non-Dees players for years. good player who goes about his business modestly. harder than fristsch, but a bit

too similar?

Jefferson will only be successful at Balwyn 3rds. Bloke is an absolute potato

He will prove you wrong you watch!

Buckley said yesterday on Fox how much he loves โ€˜Checkersโ€™ and his story.

I used to live around the corner from Brody. Heโ€™s a really nice guy. Itโ€™s not his fault he got drafted to the wrong club.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven Kingโ€™s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
