For two years, even if the cost is $1.5M, I believe it’s money well spent.

His output is brilliant, despite currently being banged up.

It takes the best KPD off JVR.

Sets a standard in training.

33 before the season starts and 192 cms is not what we need imo.

I would want younger and bigger as a key forward.

I would rather go with Kentfield if we can’t get younger and bigger.

I’m a fan of his but he’s too old now. We need to be recruiting for the future not the next year or two.

I googled 'how to fit an additional assistant coach under the soft cap' and 'Mihocek on a two year contract' was the first seven results.

Our forward line needs brains, our wave of new coaches will need supporting voices on every line. At the very least, 2026 is about completely resetting our culture and we can't go hard enough at that, and Mihocek brings a whole lot of good attitude and smart play.

Even if he hits the age wall, he will still be very useful at Casey because he can help guide and develop our young forwards without actually competing with them for the same spot on the field.

Indeed! Been my ideal target for a while, finishing is so good — presents so well, love the fit for us!

I've always rated Mihochek. He reminds me a lot of Fritsch - a smart mid sized natural forward who finds space and consistently kicks 1-2 goals a game. And I feel like he's always dominated against us!

A forward line of Fritsch, Mihochek and Melksham gives us three really difficult mid-sized matchups that will challenge a lot of defences.

As we've seen with Gunston and Melksham, age isn't as relevant as it once was. So long as he's fit, we could still get 2-3 years out of him.

Need someone to help bridge the gap — ala Membrey at Pies.feds like BM don’t grow on trees, perfect fit for needs and for development of the younger guys like Luker

Would be very happy to get this man in! Age doesn’t matter, and he can still contribute at AFL level for at least 2 more years in my eyes. Brody would also a great mentor for the multitude of young players in our forward line, and fits in with Kingys philosophy of having experienced players. Get it done Dees!

He is a forward. I can’t tell you right now that we have a player above 188cms at the club who is a forward. There is very little instinctually smart forwards at our club that would straighten us up and exploit space. This would be a signal to the group that we are going to give it a shake and to get on board.

Backline: May, Disco, Petty, Lever, Derksen, (Adams)

Forwards: Mihocek, JVR, Melk (Jeffo, Kentfield)

I guess one of May or Lever goes.

Petty forward a workhorse just like Miochek. van Rooyen can play in the reserves until he knows how to hold a mark.

Dearest @Ghostwriter, if you ever decide on cognitive-behavioral therapy, relationship-based interventions, systemic interventions, psychoeducational interventions, systemic family therapy, trauma-focused CBT or intensive service provision . . . we are here for you my love. And I'm contactable Monday, Wednesday and Sunday evenings post-game at the therapeutic residential/day care service if you need anything.

God I love Demonland... just for posts like this!

💯 Agree. I've looked at the likes of darling, Membrey go to Clubs at the end of the career and while they don't set the world on fire they take a key defender, know where to lead and will help the development of younger key talls just what we need.

Buyer beware with BM. His historical output is indeed consistent, above average and what we need (or needed from 2023 to 2025) but his last 7 games saw a significant drop off in marks per game, marks inside 50, player rating, contested marks (he didnt take any). He's really struggled these last 2 months (maybe hes injured)

It might just be the Pies were just shizen going inside 50, but 1.5mln for 2 years (if correctly reported) is a big amount of money for a player who may just be a cameo player for the rest of his career if the last 2 months are any predictor. I thinks its a line ball risky decision.

As the game opens up, older forwards with some nous are as valuable as ever.

Not a single person would have picked Gunston kicking 60+ this year?

I’d take him, Kentfield and JVR into Round 1 with a mosquito fleet around them and tell all of them to never stand still.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
