Again, the poster was writing Mihocek off based on his performance last night, ie. one game. Experts simply don’t do that. They wouldn’t last long in their jobs if they did.

I'm the poster referred to. Here's a fuller exposition. His game was a shocker. He is broken. A toe tendon injury is not an easy repair as it's part of the body that has relatively low blood supply hence slower, more problematic recovery.

Anyone contemplating bringing him in is relying on past performances but he has never been a goal machine, averaging 1.67 goals per game (267 in 159). He has been a handy addition to the Pies' forward line but never its main target. His output is similar to Fritter except Mihocek will be 33 by round one next year and Fritter will be 29.

Wounded Mihocek is the Pies' problem now and they have other ageing players to dispose of so let's leave him to them to resolve.

Our recent record on recycling bit players from other clubs is not good.

We would do better punting on a promising kid. Experts sometimes do that.

Other than a goal, Houston was bog ordinary on Saturday and has been the same all year! Massively overated player, glad to say, we dodged a bullet!

agreed. i was surprised how poor he was. definite gun kick when given room, but when the heat was on his kicking and decision making was very ordinary.

Commentators were suggesting he has been slow to adapt to his new home and regime and will be better next year. Maybe. But for the moment I am happy he went elsewhere. He will be 29 next year which, as mentioned on ABC yesterday, is close to the Pies' average age (28 and 8 months) so that makes him a good fit. And if he is a recruiting bust, a perfect fit. 🤣

Admittedly have been an admirer of how Brody Mihocek has gone about in the past. List management team must have been offered the elixir of youth or been dabbling in the dark arts. If this is the primary target of their trade/free agent acquisitions. Tim Lamb as the architect of this purported recruitment? He truly is cooked.

If the Pies want May, then it would be to our benefit to involve him in a trade for Mihocek, to not dilute the compensation we will get for Spargo.

Not that I think the compensation will be great, but could be enough to get White for example.

Of course Pies will need to actually trade us something for May, and they can then throw Mihocek into the mix. It seems like they won't get any compo for him anyway given his age.

Nothing wrong with punting on kids... but you need players out there that know what the actual f they're doing to show these kids the way.

Our current forward line is all a bit .....

Thank you for explaining why you don’t want him at our club. I was commenting on your original post which were your thoughts based on Saturday’s game.

May is contracted. He must be traded or he stays. Has no bearing on Spargo compo.

Mihocek a free agent though how do we include him in a trade to not dilute Spargo compensation?

Edited by Mouseymoo

We need to convince the Pies a trade for Steven May will be better than the AFL compensation for Mihocek.

If we an do this te Spargo compensation will not be diluted.

5 minutes ago, whatwhat say what said:

he's not staying

will basically be free to a new home

May would not be 'free' for another club. They would need to take on his contract or draw up another where's he paid what they offer. I very much doubt that it would be anywhere as much as we'd be paying him.

My tip is that he stays and plays out the year at Casey.

My understanding, and I could be wrong, is that if we trade for Mihocek rather than get him for free via free agency, then it won’t dilute the Spargo compensation.

This would be my play, we'll give you Steven May for essentially nothing if you agree to a trade rather than through Free agency.

No I’m writing him off because of his age & injury concerns

No but getting Mihocek as a free agent will affect the Spargo compensation.

other than the fact hes racist and kozzy was one of the only players to speak out against him during it all

I don't see any better options out there. no better viable trade options anyways.

On paper JUH sorting out his off field problems and getting back to 40 plus goal seasons (43 goals last year) is a better long-term option but his chances of getting back to that are probably less than 10 per cent.

Odds are more like 2%

JUH needs to decide whether he is a footballer or a gangster

But there's only a 5 per cent of that happening.

I suspect that the AFL compensation for Charlie will be somewhere between nil and zero.

Correct. And I rather he decided that as far away from our club as possible.

Even Geelong with their magic powers don’t want a bar of him, despite clearly chasing another tall (hence Curnow).

No. No. No.

Jon Ralph said tonight On The Couch that Brody was in tears in the rooms after the Prelim, which some teammates assumed was an indicator that he’d played his last game for Collingwood.

We’ve offered 3 years, Collingwood steadfast on 2.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.
