Looking forward to seeing the Saints go down to North to maximise the ignominy of last weekend.

no one at the docklands carpark to watch what should be a very good game between footscray and gw$

in more important non-mfc news, 5th test starts tonight - bumrah and stokes both out; latter's shoulder is cooked from offering handshakes for the last hour

Let’s go India!

Hoping for another moral victory for England.

Would you believe they are replaying the last quarter on the big screens before the game?

What a joke. Such a Saints thing to do. Like The Streak DVD.

For real?

I would love to see a Dogs V Crows grand final. That would genuinely be awesome.

Just all out attack

Very interesting situation for the Doggies at the moment.

Need to pick up two wins to make the 8 (assuming Suns win their game-in-hand against Essendon)

BUT

Their percentage and the traffic jam in the 8 means they only need to do make that gain on any ONE team out of the Cats, Hawks, Suns, Giants, and Dockers.

Geelong have a standard Geelong soft run into finals.

Giants and Suns play each other, so one of them must drop 1.

Freo has a challenging game against Brisbane, and also play the Dogs directly. Possible.

But Hawthorn play Collingwood at the 'G, Crows in Adelaide, and Brisbane at the Gabba. That is the clear vulnerability.

Also, I would consider tipping Hawthorn out of the 8 in round 23 a marginal silver lining for our tragic season.

Players being allowed time to get outside 5 with no stand call. We never get that.

The Bulldogs are a joy to watch.

Gee if Kingsley gave them a spray last week at half time imagine what he'd say tonight.

But this is why I want the dogs to play finals, because when they're up & running they are good to watch.

Maybe Goodwin should tell GWS coach don’t get hung up on the scoreboard or the result like he does! Ignore our win loss of 7/18 hey let’s hold hands around the camp fire and sing ha much love we have and watch other teams play finals & win flags, honestly what a joke we are!

Do the rules actually apply to Bulldogs? They can hold the ball, drop the ball, throw the ball, run 25m without bouncing the ball..

If I could take only one player from another club, it would be Sam Darcy hands down.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
