All good points BDA. I don't want to pot the women who play AFL. It is the way the AFL runs this competition that annoys me. However it should not be part of this discussion. Point taken.

The AFL have botched the expansion of the AFLW.

They think in $ signs and product offering. They couldn't care less about the long term health of the game

I hope our backline pulls it's finger out.

Mcvee

Tmac

Turner

Salem

All four of these players combined had less than Bowey's total of five tackles.

Mcvee and Tmac had zip.

That's just not acceptable.

Viney managed seventeen.

I suppose I better front up and add to the dismal crowd number.

We’ve entered the ‘old men complaining about women playing football’ stage

Good lord

How so? I havent seen one post about old men complaining about women playing football

Every game is important, we lost last week because we failed to keep our nerve in those last 5 minutes. I’m tipping that we will replicate last weeks effort but for four quarters, the team received a real kick in the guts just like us supporters and I am hoping that the players respond accordingly.

If Petty plays he needs to go back, apart from Salem and Rivers our backline fell apart in that last quarter, Spargo needs to come out for Sharp, I would also bring in AJ and perhaps Brown. Jeffo? Kentfield?, wish Mitch was on our list.

The AFLW is a tough sell.

I was surprised to read that the average attendance for the Women's EPL (probably the most successful league) is not much more than 2,000.

The NRL seem to be doing it a little better.

Women's cricket took 50 odd years to reach its present stage and below international level it's a media desert

Inns and Outs people?

Jefferson in, Petty to the backline. Don't really care about the rest.

Sensible

Should have been the selection last week.

May to be "rested" for remainder of the season

I'd prefer to see some genuine intensity and aggression - so both of those blokes can stay at home based on recent exposed form thanks

It will take a long time to establish a brand new fan base but Arsenal for example average 30K per match and will be playing in the Emirates stadium (70K capacity) next season. They have many stars and other teams play in tiny stadiums and average very low numbers. The US W league averages over 10K per game over the whole league so there is definite improvement, once it keeps getting support

If the AFL start taking the AFLW seriously and putting money into it, it will grow. For 10 years it has been a novelty comp once last 2-3 months.

Has anyone else noticed how we’re often beaten by one opposition gun midfielder? Wanganeen-Milera is just the latest of a bunch that includes Harley Reid, Jason Horne-Francis, Isaac Heaney, Matt Rowell, Steele Sidebottom, Nick Daicos, Ollie Wines, etc.

Will Reid win the game for WC this week? Or will our coaches and players wake up?

He will be the first player out injured to beat a side. He might be good, but he's not that good.

Reid is out for the year with injury, perhaps Kelly will play his only good game in 3 years and beat us?

Cullen to debut

Thanks. I recently returned from several weeks overseas. I hadn’t caught up with that.

So we might be a chance 🙃

And has anyone else noticed every time we lose a game, one of the opposition's players is in Gary Lyon's best 3 players of the weekend across the league - without fail (on AFL 360)

Adams is in front IMO.

Luker is coming from a long way back with his fitness. I think his progress at Casey is very encouraging and he deserves a full pre season before he's thrown into the AFL mix. He has plenty of time.

Adams has been on the list as long as Jefferson, and with May and Lever out, and West Coast having a very ordinary forwardline, this would be the week to debut him.

But obviously not happening.
