how do you have sufficient time to slow down when you were a split second and/or a bounce away from winning the ball?

Maynard 0 weeks. May 3 weeks. The AFL states that Maynard bumped Brayshaw. The AFL concedes that May did not bump the Carlton player. Honestly, WTAF.

Sufficient time to slow down? is that a joke?

he was attacking the ball

how fast should he be moving?

I know it’s not the point but he’ll only be genuinely missed for the Dogs game.

He can’t play St Kilda irrespective of the suspension and lord help Goodwin if we can’t beat West Coast without May.

Thats completely irrelevant for me, it's not about games missed I honestly couldn't care at all. It's about the principle, what the AFL is turning the game into and the fact we are always made an example of while other clubs get away with stuff scot free. It's completely [censored], the club has to appeal this even if he will miss 3 weeks with concussion anyway.

The AFL is such a joke

3 weeks for not bumping

How TF did Pearce get off? He could see the guy coming at him. May had no time.

That gets 3 weeks and Maynard got off. [censored]. And don't @ me about the [censored] supposed rule change at the end of that year. [censored]'s sake.

Maynard shoved Murphy Reid into the bench this week. Nothing. Moore drops his knees into an opponent's back this week. Nothing.

brilliant 😂😂

They were just accidents bro.

Sums it up. A Collingwood player can intentional try to cause harm to an opponent with non football related actions that would be deemed assault off field... not even cited.

Player from another team accidentally collided with an opponent as part of a football contest where he tried to avoid harming the opponent... Three weeks suspension.

The game is ruined. The joy of watching and supporting is gone. We've now got endless rule changes that can't even be officiated consistently and blatant corruption to deal with.

I'm done.

Collingwood were illegitimate premiers in 2023. If they win again this year, they will be illegitimate again. People on here can call me a whinger, I don't give a [censored]. This isn't a sport anymore - it's a fixed spectacle. It's basically WWE sports entertainment level production.

We should have hired this guy.

I reckon the fact that we are not in contention for finals may have factored in as well.

Does anyone know who was on the tribunal? They should be named and shamed.

Saw this question in Zitas twitter thread, which I found interesting.

How can the charge be "upheld" when the case was sent directly to the Tribunal and not graded by the MRO?

I feel sorry for May. He could've actually tried to clean Evans up and it's wouldn't be far far worse. Instead he did the right thing and elected not to bump at all and still copped a three week suspension.

Poor bastard.

Hopefully he snaps Moores spine with a rogue knee at some point.

We know what this is really about.

The AFL is being sued for $1billion by former players.

They are trying to show they are doing everything to stop concussion and in the process destroying the game.

Appeal and win.

Just call it the Collingwood Football League at this point.

Steve probably had a greater chance of being elected supreme leader of North Korea then walking out of there with no suspension.

So they concede it wasn’t a bump. If that’s the new precedent, why didn’t TDK also get 3 weeks for putting his knee in the wrong spot??

Carlton lawyer would be all over that and win May a brownlow as a result.

Pity, we have AA.

I did some research and assumed Adrian Anderson was successful in JVR’s appeal against the Suns in 2023.

Nope. He was unsuccessful at the original tribunal case. Another lawyer got him off at the appeals hearing.

The bloke’s a complete failure. And we’re a complete failure for continuing to appoint him.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
