May surely will get at least a week. Petty prob in but if Adams has a blinder tomorrow why not get a look at him?

I don't get what we're doing with our younger players.

We sub tholstrup only 5 minutes into the 3rd and then his replacement in Lindsay spends the last 10minutes of the game on the bench.

Are we playing the kids or not?

Bring in Sparrow (so underrated on demonland IMO) and Petty.

May would be unlucky to be suspended but I think he probably will be.

Tholstrup must be dropped. Confidence is rock bottom. Sharp, Lindsay, Jeffo at risk. Though I’d keep Jeffo unless swapping for Kentfield. Keep giving him exposure, the basic errors will improve as the nerves settle with more games. Got to see what he can do given the season is well over.

The rest pending Casey tomorrow, maybe Spargo, Howes? It’s a shame Sestan is still out.

OUT: Tholstrup, May (if suspended)

IN: Sparrow, Petty

I'm not sure if Jeffo is the answer but he probably holds his spot unless Kentfield plays a blinder tomorrow. Petty could also be thrown forward if Jeffo is dropped and Adams could debut to replace May if he's suspended.

I really don't care if may gets suspended. He's just annoying me this season.

Who knows who to bring in, but at least Dan butlers not playing for them this time

I missed the incident where May is said to be at risk. Anything in it?

Ambivalent re Jefferson - showed endeavour and kicked a beautiful set shot. But if Kentfield has a blinder tomorrow he may replace Jeffo.

May suffered concussion late and will miss regardless of a possible suspension.

Yep:

Petty hasn’t played defence for 15 weeks. Does he do it next week? Or does Adams get a go?

Can’t keep playing Tholstrup. As much as we need to be playing kids, he’s undeserving of his spot. Tomorrow ought to be an audition for his spot (and Sharp’s too IMO).

I’d like to see Adam’s get a go. If he plays well tomorrow, he should take May’s spot. Nice little incentive for him.

Bring in Kentfield. We need a look at who we have as potential AFL players. Put rivers in the middle give us something different.

Leave Jefferson in please. I think he struggle with the dewy conditions but there were still moments like the smothers and bringing the ball to ground.

Him and JVR just need to continue that forward synergy.

Goodwin looked angry in his post match press conference. Can't help but feel he earmarked this four game run as a way to demonstrate to the board we are on the right track and to get us up to 9-10 wins for the year. If we lose this one, I have a feeling he's closer to the sack than he's ever been.

On balance he is still unlikely to make it, but key forwards really do take time and the best chance he has of setting himself up for a break out season next year is to stay in the side and learn from Melksham and what is looking like a rejuvenated Fritsch at last. I worry that confidence will always be an issue for him, but the best way to give him a monster pre-season is to have him in the side.

Out - Goodwin

In - Enright

Can we swap them in the coaches box?

Seriously

In - Howes (play as a half forward) Petty (back)

Out - May (concussion). Kolt (confidence is shot and not ready for AFL).

Seeeeesh that was hard. Our list runs thin.

Saints at $2.10 😉

According to a friend 🙄🙄

Its a good point on confidence.

I think its why we just have to play him out in the seniors for the rest of the year and hope that the penny will drop in terms of him knowing just how hard he needs to work if he wants to make it at senior level.

I will give it to him though, unlike some key forwards ive seen, hes not afraid to leap into packs and create a contest. I feel with each experience and a bigger frame, hell start to clunk those marks.

OUT: May, Tholstrup, Sharp
IN: Petty, Mentha, Sparrow

El Jeffo made mistakes but like last week probably coulda/shoulda/woulda had another goal or two to his name, there's something there

What will happen

Out: May, Tholstrup

In: Petty, Sparrow

What I want to happen and won’t

Out: May, Tholstrup, Sharp

In: Adams, Howes, Sestan

Adams to FB, Howes and Sestan to half back, Rivers to midfield, Bowey to half forward

I can see absolutely no reason to expect a different result to our last meeting with the Aints.

Somehow we're favourites but I truly am unable to fathom how or why.

Lyon will be licking his lips surely

Some will think this is pessimistic. It's just how I see it. There's nothing to enthuse watching us play.

Was really hoping to have a bit of a wet-sail trip home to end of season... but we're all at sea and dead in the water currently.

I really would prefer May was playing even if a bit out of sorts but that's not going to be happening.

Is Lever even fit enough to be considered? Does Petty have to come in and defend ?

A long week ahead

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
