do you honestly have to raise the same point all the time?

we get it

we havenโ€™t traded in any good players in the last few years

can we sign something to say we agree to this to stop the constant repetition?

Yeah well ya know, why havent we?? Cozz club is almost a basket case!

On the train back from the MCG. Against my better judgement I still went to this game ๐Ÿ˜ Result was not unexpected, at least this means the Voss era is coming to a close soon. I feel for him, was a superstar footballer but just isn't senior coach material (not to absolve some of the players mind you) and he should have been given better support. It simply hasn't worked out.

I still believe that in the right hands with some intelligent list management moves the Blues can be a contender in a fairly short time frame, but remains to be seen if enough levers can be pulled to get closer to that goal ...

Unlike us then eh??

And that is what Goody is trying to find. Kudos to him for trying but I think the fractures in this list are too much to overcome. We were able to put aside the egos for a year or two and it worked. There is a lack of trust in a football sense.

Apart from all the backslapping when we score a goal, we just don't play and look like a happy & united team

There is a onfield disconnect and it's not just about the mids to forwards connect (the lack of)

But the mids to forwards disconnect (which is now into it's 4th year) is a tell-tale sign of the overall disconnect

Delusional.

Goodwin worked a miracle

No he didn't. Our flag came on the back of 7 years of club-wide hard work and building.

They have a very savvy football person taking over the reigns soon.

Will be an interesting watch.

Whoโ€™s that R-Jay?

Collingwood's teamwork is second to none

All their players look for a teammate as a default move. Total team

Constantly running to space or creating space with pinpoint kicks and handpasses

They make our team look like rank amateurs

Mind you, our players don't have the skillset to play such a style. Sigh

During Collingwoodโ€™s first qtr and half of the second they had some really ordinary disposal, this is no coincidence as this is about how long Carltonโ€™s pressure lasted. They are definitely up there for teams running to space / creating space but GWS take the mantle for being the number one kicking team (I donโ€™t look at stats very much, purely from what Iโ€™ve watched). Collingwoodโ€™s style at times resembles a mad / frantic play on at all costs style (Bulldogs are the same) which has the opposition feeling like theyโ€™re constantly under pressure. Obviously helps having some dangerous fwds to kick to helps but more opportunities are being created this way. GWS are poetry in motion, their ability to turn defence into attack and move the ball from one end of the ground to the other almost seems effortless at times. Think it was the third qtr last night when Elliot kick two goals in a row. The second of those Pies won the centre clearance and kicked to Elliot leading at the ball carrier, he marked and goaled. To me, whilst being a good passage of play this is just football basics done well. We win plenty of clearance but rather than kick long, low and direct we as everyone knows just throw the footy on the boot and bomb it long into a fwd line full of either stationary fwds.

FFS you must be fun at parties.

I used the word miracle in the sense that for us long term supporters whoโ€™d gone years without success, it was miraculous.

Carlton are rooted.

Your mids are ball butchers (and we should know) and your guns are getting older.

The only difference between you and us is at least we have some decent young players.

Your team needs to start over

Why the early start to the game at Docklands?

I'd like it if we had some 12:30 games in the winter sunshine. Great time for a cheese board and chardonnay (oaked of course)

Edit: I see there's another game at Docklands tonight which is probably the answer

They would have lost 2-3 times in the last month, had they not played us, St Kilda and West Coast. They had their lull of the season coincide with the soft part of their fixture.

Right now theyโ€™re unbackable flag favourites, although a prelim against Brisbane will be interesting.

I heard someone from the Filth say a month ago that they began planning, on an individual basis, when to rest players, loading, training regimes etc. as soon as the '25 FIXture was released.

They do have Jagga Smith who was a gun U - 18 player, could be anything. But they did trade away this years 1st pick for him.

You've missed the point

In terms of mindset and not doing the team things

So blazing away going forward isn't the only area where we are falling down

We get plenty of the ball but are inefficient

The Pies can often get less of the ball but are very efficient

Both teams reflect their coaches a bit. Goodwin - Nuts & Bolts approach

McRae - precise & efficient as a footballer

Yes and here we are handing out lessons to Windsor, JVR & Jeffo, in out in outโ€ฆ.

A lot of people think itโ€™s a lock that Goody coaches next year purely because of his contract, the way heโ€™s selecting the teams tells the opposite story.

Memory is not great 'Macca' but I think Goody was a bit more than a nuts and bolts footballer, nice left footer...

Yeah ok, fair enough

It's more so McRae who was neat, precise and nearly always found a target with 20-30 metre kicks. Super efficient

Goodwin was also a rugged type who went hard at the ball. So contested possessions and contest work has been our fortรจ (not so much this season)

Given they would have had maximum input into their own fixture that would be no surprise.

How can Jayden Hunt not get a game in one of the worst defences of all time?

maybe he didnโ€™t meet team standards or something?

Not sure. He played reasonable footy in 23 & 24 but this year he seems a shadow of the player that he was many years ago. Maybe itโ€™s the losing culture and fact the Eagles arenโ€™t improving. It is 3 years now of losing and losing and losing. 9 wins in his 58 games so far at WCE.

Itโ€™s a shame he missed out on the 2021 GF as he was a good part of our season that year. He played 21 games in โ€œ21 but ironically got hurt vs the Eagles. Injury robbed him of playing in the finals and then he couldnโ€™t get back into the GF team.

What do you regard as fairly short time frame?

Yes you have some players who could get you some draft picks but a bit like Melbourne your a bit of challenging for a flag.

2 draft/trade periods, 2025 and 2026 for a reset under a new coaching team, head of football and CEO (CEO already onboard).

The Pies are easily the best side in the AFL.

We lost to them by a point.

We can't be that far away from being a decent side again.
