Yep, watch him destroy Jeffo and JVR, in fact he should play both for the rest of the season to see if the synergy created at Casey can equate to the seniors, but not holding my breath this will happen!

I'm enjoying a much needed break from the hustle and hustle in Melbourne, visiting family in the French and Swiss Alps over the next three weeks. The game starts at 7:30am here. I have never in my life felt less motivated to watch a game of football. I am quite looking forward to not watching it. It is seriously liberating to be in a place where it's so easy to break away from your own routine. I really look forward to reading through this thread, the game day and post game threads when I wake up at about 10am local time on Monday morning. I know absolutely no one cares about this but I have badly needed this trip from work and life, and after a week it has already highlighted how important it is to give your brain a break. Footy is just too much a part of my life to not be included in that "break" and so I have promised myself to just switch off and check in post-match. I am hoping for a win but I am not letting myself get worked up or too invested.

I am also meeting an old friend in Geneva for dinner on Sunday evening so there is a good chance I will be mildly hungover to such a degree as to be physically unable to wake up at 7am to watch the game so there is also that...

This is like an episode of Ricky Gervais' After Life.

I don’t think keeping prying eyes out is the only reason.

If spectators were allowed in there would likely be insurance issues, eg. what would happen if a spectator was injured while on the grounds (which aren’t public)? The toilets would have to be cleaned, rubbish removed etc. And, when it is open to the public, security is present, so that must be a condition 🤷‍♀️

Sadly probably this.

No need to worry about the dunnies at Gosch's eh 😉

Envious to the max.

As a salute to your predication I too shall endeavour to imbibe to the point of incapacity of viewing.. cheers 🍷

Enjoy your travels . Don't swear the small stuff.... you know ...like our chances in hell etc 😉

What is the point of the club's website? I ask myself, as on the eve of the game there is no team list and nothing new over the past three days.

Thanks WJ & ANDY FOR DEMONLAND.

What rubbish.

Goodwin has been a coach at MFC since 2015 and senior coach since 2017.

Gawn, TMac, Viney and Salem are the only listed players who debuted for Melbourne prior to Goodwin joining.

Everyone on our list (including those four who were relatively young when he join) with the exception of a couple of mature recruits - May, Campbell, McAdams, Billings - have been developed under Goodwin. Even Melksham was coached by Goodwin at Essendon.

Agree, Brereton could have been an all time great had it not been for injuries.

Randomly watched his open Mike interview with Mike Sheahan on YouTube few months back.. actually a really good watch if anyone has seen it.

The open mike with Mark Jackson was the most interesting one.

Yes, it is a consistent pattern with Badloss.

Pies haven’t announced their team either, they will be out tonight.

The last 7 in Melb isn’t right either from a national comp perspective and so uneven and reinforces the poor integrity of the AFL competition

Poor integrity of the comp? Can’t see it myself. By way of example have a look at Collingwood’s draw. 5 interstate games spaced as follows - opening round, r6, r9, r18 and r23. Throw in two byes and 12 of the last 14 games in Melbourne. 😳

You realise the Pies haven’t announced their team either, but I guess we told them not to just yet.

For the information of everyone it is the AFL who decided that teams are announced on Sunday for Monday games. The same happened on Easter Monday when the Hawthorn and Geelong teams were announced on Sunday. If I remember correctly the same happened last year when the teams were announced on Sunday.

No point being logical in an ocean of stupidity. Monday teams are announced 6.20 pm Sunday.

Always wondered why it’s like this for Monday games ie; for Sunday games, extended bench are known Thursday nights & finalised teams by Friday evening… you know the rational behind it all Clint?

Cheers.

Re: Our 'failure' to disclose the KB team:

God knows there are things to criticise at the MFC, but those who groan about that and every little thing, only harm their credibilty on the issues that matter.

Yeah it’s odd. Carlton and Essendon play 20 hours before us but named squads 3 days before us, and finalised teams 48 hours before us.

Naah. It's like country footy.

They called for volunteers to play Collingwood and an insufficient number have put their hand up at this point.

0h dear me,i am ready to go

I'm actually happy that Cox played VFL and not an inclusion. Cox has played some blinders against us and he always goes in hard against Gawn almost with an intent to injure.

McStay will be severely underdone and I hope they select him.

Agreed, he plays to hurt Gawn. They’ll be looking at the weather as well I’d say. Extra talks on a cold, rainy day probably aren’t the go.

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.
