Enjoy our last home game or any game in Vic as we will be on the road inc a bye for the next 4 weeks, another shafting by the afl!

Increased security what a laugh, I have NOT been checked with wand detectors, stopped by security or anything at all this year. I've waltzed right in at both Marvel earlier this year and the G. For all the talk about upgrades, yadda, yadda, security is a disgrace. Anyone else had similar experiences?

My Dad's metal drink bottle sets off the alarm every week and he gets his bag checked as a result. I'm not sure what they would do if he just kept walking, as anyone with a concealed weapon would.

[censored] me, it’s taken me til today to stomach coming on here and thinking about footy, last week was just so so disappointing. Should’ve been a lock for a win and we didn’t turn up.

Can’t see this week being much better, Pies are going well and based on last week we aren’t. Had some hope after the run of wins but that’s gone now. (Interesting timing for the club to send me an email titled “HOPE” on tuesday, but it was just about drink bottles not actual hope for the season).

AJ out, I think it has to be JVR in. Jeffo kicked 5 yes but they were VFL goals, leads into space with no pressure etc, don’t get those chances at AFL level. He can’t go in the ruck either.

Will suck it up and go along but what used to be an exciting day (and meaningful as Dad got taken down by MND) is becoming a bit painful with arrogant, annoying pies fans and our losses.

Not sure why Jeffo has to lay tackles ..put pressure on for sure ..I mean Elliot kicked 5 goals and laid 2 tackles ...Jeffo kicked 5 & laid 1 …

Yes, just kick goals and not points, where you then hand the ball to the opposition, often for a 2 goal turn around.

We’ll win this. We’re coming nicely into our sweet spot. Pity about Viney but we can cover. I’d love to see Culley get a game and think his big body would be useful. I’ve little doubt we’ve set ourselves for this week. Expecting a solid crowd and a rapturous 6-8 renditions of our favourite song.

I’ve had the complete opposite, PF. At every single match I’ve been wanded and bag-checked. But yeah, so many people just waltz on in. However, I have a feeling this week will be different because Collingwood.

You recently won houses upon a profound belief.

Putting any up for this game ?.

Seems that rain is likely. Not sure we have played a game this year in the rain?

If it starts sliding off the side of our boots we’ll no doubt kick a lot straighter!

Round 1 v Giants was torrential at times. Rain won’t hurt our already atrocious goal kicking, but it won’t help either

apparently a serious footy club these days is a club that has won ONE flag in 150 years by one point with 30 second left😑😑

I hope the club has a word to the AFL and asks for this to never happen again. 4 weekends of no MFC footy in VIC is awful scheduling by the AFL.

The pay off is that our last 7 games are in Melbourne but the scheduling is so uneven.

I’ll put up the 2nd partner I just won!

Playing out of melbourne in the depths of winter maybe isn't such a bad thing

I cannot fathom how we've been dealt 3 interstate matches in a row.

God, I would do anything to humble these [censored]. Wore my premiership cap (worn backwards) to pick up the Switch 2 this morning and this filth fan behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said “see you on Monday, chump”

Tongue in cheek, but who knows. Scum fans, scum players, scum club and they always seem to experience the good stuff year in year out. Goes to show that not all good things happen to good people.

Bloody sickening to see them on the up on the regular. They are getting too big headed for my liking.

im glass half empty this week. We rarely beat Collingwood. I think the last win I went to against them was when Brent Grgic kicked a late winner. Will see yall on Monday, not looking forward to those feckless fans.

McVee seems to get these types

Out : Lever, Laurie, AJ (susp)

In : TMac, Viney, JVR

but really - just as long as Lever has spell at Casey

Lever needs to be played across the backline in a utility role, entering the melee and/or to firstly intercept and secondly to feed upfield a little in space, thus beginning a chain of clearances into a scoring zone. He needs to also avoid a static position, peeling off and far to re-enter the challenges with some pace and selective angles best suited to his sound reading of the flight of the ball. If he is in a position to be bumped off the ball, he will be bumped off the ball, he is lightly framed and it will be too late to enact a recovery.

Off topic but does anyone know why Jeffo's nickname is 'the magician'?

Can make himself disappear from games

On a side note, the G could be in very poor shape by Monday. Monday will be the third match played on the ground in as many days. The forecast is for rain every day this weekend, and again on Monday. I imagine that it'll be pretty chewed up by Monday. Will any player bother to wear proper stops? Or are we at the point where all players now just wear the moulded soles?

Nup. I Believe it may have given to him when playing school footy, can conjour goals magically, something like that!

If you’re coming to Fed. Square for the Walk to the ‘G (commencing at 12:15pm) and/or the entertainment and partner giveaways (commencing at 10am)…

Be sure to visit the Demon Army tent for a snag in bread (with or without onions) or a delicious homemade Big Freeze cupcake! Or both! 😃 We’ll also have water and soft drinks for sale. We accept cash and card.

This is by far and away our biggest fundraiser for the year and we’re hoping the predicted cold and wet weather won’t keep folks away (PS: footy is a winter sport 😉)

Shoutout to Coles who've again very kindly given us $1000 to cover all our costs meaning every last cent we make goes to Fight MND.

Please come to our tent for deliciousness. We serve sooooo many Collingwood fans, it would be nice to have some customers I’m not rude to. 😅 JK. This is the one time I welcome the ferals, because Neale 💕

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
