Tmac doesn't even make the squad after being in to best players ever week. Astounding!

The most surprising thing in this thread is that people have been bothering to listen to a footy podcast produced by The Age.

Really happy for Laurie..

Grab your opportunities son!

Interesting that the team list on the AFL site just swapped JVR in for Viney into the 18. I suspect at 5 pm we will find that JVR is an emergency, because he is in Sydney ready to play for Casey tomorrow.

Vines is flying to Alice and will train (a little like Clayton did a couple of years ago!) and Henderson will come into the 23. Either Hendo or Sharp I expect to be sub. Don't expect Adams to play. Final question is which plane Bailey Laurie is on....?

Bailey is on his way to Alice. Emergencies are Adams, Henderson and JVR (in Sydney?). Vines will train in Alice!

So does Harry start & Bailey is the sub?

That's the way I see it panning out. Sharp named in the 18 and with the bench Bill is the only one IMO that will be sub.

Sharp is a much better sub idea than Laurie.

Laurie needs a whole game to.impact and warm into it.

Sharp has good assets for a sub.

I've noticed Laurie has been playing a far more even split as a half forward/mid at Casey rather than majority mid. Been playing well, still putting up solid numbers and hitting the scoreboard. Deserves a shot.

Has to impress because he will be first out when Viney/spargo returns and obviously the club has high hopes for Tholstrup in that position as well. Imagine he will most likely be the sub.

Its time for Bill to be given a crack at it. he should start

hopefully he can make an impression.

Sharp named on the field so you got to assume Laurie will start as the sub

Like this actually. We know Sharp can impact as sub and has that pace/endurance combo that can be damaging late in the game. Not sure we'll learn much about Laurie if he plays half a quarter.

Having not played last week - surely better for TMac to get a full game for Casey. He wasn't going to push out May, Lever or Turner after last week.

If Laurie does well, he has the spot for 6 weeks IMO.

Sharp named in the 18, so not going to happen this week. Maybe a perfect sub for Grand Final day?

🤣 the perfect. Can come on and kick 3 against the Pies.

Or even more romantically, he can kick 3 in the final quarter against his old mob the Lions.

We can dream.

yeah i don't agree

he's an inside midfielder

in terms of replacing spargo, i think henderson suits the role player specificity of like: like

I think Laurie is more likely a Spargo replacement. Here was his draft profile report which highlights our views Is he a smart small forward or an inside mid ?

POSITION: Forward/Midfielder

Laurie is a crafty small forward/midfielder who loves to take the game on and can carve up the opposition with his attacking creativity. Having put together a sensational NAB League finals series which ended in premiership glory last year, he consolidated his high standing among the Chargers' raft of elite 2020 AFL Draft prospects. The diminutive forward/midfielder is a high impact player in attack, able to tear games open with his magnificent evasion and ability to hit targets by foot in full flight. Most of his work as a bottom-ager was done at half-forward, where Laurie worked hard to find space and receive in all the right areas to set up scoring opportunities for his teammates.

I won't be making that mistake again I can assure you.

unsure if this has been posted, but, is there somewhere us Deees get together to watch interstate games (once it was the Bentleigh Club - gee - I'm going back!).

Go Dees

and I can't stand Saints!

I lived in Bentleigh and used to go to the Bentleigh Club too!

Yet to show anything like the skill set required to make it at afl level as yet tho

We will never know if he’s any good if he continues to be sub and then get 15 mins to do something in a role that doesn’t necessarily suit him

Every game I’ve seen him do well in at vfl level it’s been as a mid, not a pressure / smart ball using forward

Actually, it probably does a little - but in a positive sense for the dee as we have 10 years experience of travelling there and all that entails. Surely that's an advantage over the saints who I dont think have ever played there.

Pedantic point: We beat them in Alice by 3 points in 2020 https://www.saints.com.au/matches/2859
