Our recent record against the Swans hasn't been great so despite them having some a few regulars missing we should not expect this game to be easy.

I went to see the Swans against Carlton last week at the SCG.

They don't bat that deep atm imo so if you can nullify a few key playmakers, we should win.

Heeney and Warner are probably the big threats so hopefully Viney and I suspect Clarry can keep them under wraps - both are super dangerous inside F50.

Blakey creates a lot of rebound in their D50 and I thought the Blues did a decent job of blocking his usual handball receives which robbed him of the chance to do too much damage.

I had a bad dream, I sense an upset!

Still have nightmares the time when Adam Goodes tore us apart.

But as Binman pointed out some of their killer forwards are out. And some have had poor seasons. Not unlike our forward line except it's come to life, especially last week.

I'm keen to see how it goes today. I'm predicting Kozzie to have a big day in what I understand to be fine conditions. And of course, see what some of the young ones do.

If we play like last week we will definitely win.

I actually think this could be out biggest win of the season so far. Syd have improved their game but they can't score and they have some big outs. We'll be full of confidence after last week so I think we'll win easily here.

Dees by 41.

I'd reckon that our 'young' brigade will really stand up and be counted, in this game. Their experience(s) have grown, they have checked the videos of their weaknesses, then assimilated 'learnings' into progressive contributions to date. Should be a very pleasing opportunity to knock the Swans were it hurts, and I just love the bench line-up to help out.

If we're relying on Viney today then we're in trouble

Be careful over there. I got mugged in Pattaya in 1986. I was drinking with locals then I woke up several hours later minus a few hundred $$.

A 'classy' bar in Pattaya. Is there a 2nd Pattaya I don't know about?

Isn't there folklore about people waking up without a kidney?

Clarry or Viney going to Warner? and/or Heeny if they swap during the game.

Big opportunity today to build momentum for the rest of the fast moving season.

I’ve never seen the words “classy” and “Pattaya” used in the same sentence before. You are a pioneer Bitts. Enjoy your day.

Viney not playing ...

I am really looking forward to this game. A beautiful day for my walk to the Mcg. Very handy living in Richmond. I will go to the Hassett Room for couple of beers before the game, and then go to my reserved seat.

It will be interesting to see if we kick better for goal with windy conditions.

Could Rivers get a role on Heeney?

It would be lovely to see us do something similar to what the Timberwolves are doing to OKC right now.

Expecting to take this game out quite easily, and I now believe that the non nomination of Tommy is a ruse.

Hope we do have a win - it would make your tim-tams even more special - one per goal!

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
