But why at Casey which means that the four travelling emergencies won't see a game.

Will be interesting to see if Billings plays. Not sure what his plans are post AFL but a mid season retirement might be on the cards.

Yet another example of the farce they call the VFL. Surely Sunday in Southport would have been the common sense fixturing. Travelling emergencies would then get a game.

I really hope that the clubs are putting it to the AFL hierarchy, need to get the media focussed on this farcical situation regarding the second highest tier of Aussie Rules that appears to be handicapping most league sides. Probably won’t get any traction with the so called media, can’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Those Ins would have been handy last week V Doggies.

O Green in - Brads son?

strong Casey side in this week.

Different Oliver Green, played for Sandy dragons last year if I'm not mistaken.

Brads son is only 14 or 15.

Lachie Bryce and Paddy Cross are stiff to be omitted. Those AFL listed inclusions returning from injury or dropped from the firsts have priority obviously. Are Blake Howes and Tom Fullerton certain to play? Listed as emergencies v Lions. Aiden Johnson has got his ticket. Bailey Laurie ever the bridesmaid.

As DeeZone says, what an absolute bloody farce.

VFL is NOT even half a support competition.

Dillon should put his foot down and let the VFL know they are not up to scratch and risk being completely sidelined if they can’t show some plain common sense.

Noted today that VFL Sydney V Carlton was played at 3:05 pm, at the SCG before the main game.

Obviously the Gabba surface cannot handle 2 games in a row.

Or it’s just us?

Wow - 18 AFL listed players, the most I can recall for years - just Hore and Viney not named to play this weekend......

Dees likely to have 2 travelling emergencies as seems to be our MFC peculiarity. Still agree it’s an AFL player listed team this week.

The AFL run the VFL. They are responsible for its demise.

Is he good at soccer?

Bryce and Cross were very good last week. No stats padding like a few AFL listed others. Best last week were K.Brown, Bryce, Laurie, Campbell, Hardie, Kentfield & Cross. Definitely like to see Bryce given more games as he shows he could be a draftee chance at years end.

AMW and McAdam also miss. I miss them and held high hopes for both this year.

Does the man mountain still ruck for the Sharks?

Expecting a slog in the wet but at least not much wind

Goober? Hopefully, he is one of my faves.

Been saying this since Judas played CHB for the Iscariots!

What's badly needed is a stand alone AFL reserves comp, and as you all know I've been saying this since the dawn of time!

Appears Cream is on the red-eye to BrisVegas. An opportunity in positions vacant exists for a young tall to stand up. Bryce and Cross are named on the bench.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
