FWIW, even if there's an argument that we can lift and beat Essendon, Richmond and/or West Coast, we can't beat Fremantle even when we're good. The way they're playing today against the Dogs, I would rate our chance of beating them at about 0.5%.

We could beat the bombers, they’re as dysfunctional as us. Tiges have a bit more go about them than we’ve shown so I’d tip them but they’re gettable. Eagles are pus so if we drop that one it’s official the players have given up. Freo will beat us, they always do.

I don't have any confidence, the way we're playing, about Essendon. They can't defend, sure, but neither can North. It didn't matter for North because we can't score so we can't take advantage of it. Meanwhile we're so poor at defending transition that if Essendon get their ball movement going, they have enough weaponry.

In the last quarter Geelong were kicking the ball out of their defensive 50 and it was going to Gawn 1 on 1. JVR sprinted across and chopped Gawn’s arms in what would have been a mark. Went to ground, and his opponent went off with it - goal.

Max stood there looking [censored] off (not aggressive) and waited for JVR to walk up to him to share some water. Gave him a pat on the head but it showed me: 1) they’re playing a very low confidence and selfish type of footy, 2) we don’t know the basic skills of blocking players, 3) good leadership from Gawn to not lose it but once in a while they need a spray.

1) The behind the goals vision of the first centre bounce where Sparrow goes up to Holmes the other forwards are pointing and got the arms out stretched asking what's going on/who's playing on Humphries? This is damning and I just can't believe they wouldn't have been on the same page as the coaches. Is this why the likes of Petracca were so frustrated?

2) Montagna believes Goodwin/the coaching staff should put their hand up internally and say they got the Holmes tag wrong.

3) King on the other hand reckons that even if our forwards had 6v6 we still wouldn't have scored because they're so poor at contest, hence he could see why Goodwin would throw someone extra at stoppage to help limit the damage and keep us in the game for longer. He put the onus on the likes of Oliver and Viney to get the ball outside instead of throwing it onto the boot and to use the extra at stoppage to get some run and carry to get it over Geelong's extra in defence. He also said Viney is self destructive to Melbourne's midfield.

Ultimately our lack of solving the forward line issues whether it’s personnel or connection. It has finally caught up to us.

The media have found extra footage of trac getting frustrated after the siren & chucking his mouth guard.

They are obsessed with trying to make it into a bigger story than it needs to be. We all know he's frustrated.

Tbh it's irrelevant whether disrespectful or not. For mine it was just a matter-of-fact comment. Literally..relating to a matter of FACT ... that being we don't know what we're doing. That comes from the top down.

EVERYONE is seeing this now. The Elephant in the room for many is Simon's termination date. No longer an IF for many.... but when .

I think the only reason much of the media aren't slicing us up like a Tepanyaki Chef is many are in a state of semi disbelief, as opposed to semi-denial ( more the preserve of many Melbourne supporters ), that this team, once competitive , are just a total mess.

Haven’t seen the segment het, but that’s true, and our forwards were asking what was going on at that first bounce, that’s incredible. I can’t think of an explanation for that which doesn’t reflect awfully on the coaches. We either enacted a plan which we failed to properly explain, or we failed to address a mistake (no one covering Sparrow in the forward line) and then left it and allowed it to destroy us.

At the game It was as though Geelong were able to create a spare in nearly every area of the ground. Even deep in their forward line. I’m guessing sparrows positional apponent just follows the ball around, especially once they got the ball past centre.

Also Max for instance would run back to defence rather than forward, especially the first quarter.

And with Trac, I think people are hoping he bleeds red and blue, and his frustrations are for the team. My take is for most of last year he wanted out, I can’t see that changing so why wouldn’t his frustrations be “Why wouldn’t they let me leave, this situation is ducked”

I'd say Scott made it pretty clear the whole club was laughing at our coaches. We were flat out embarrassed. The fact an opposition coach and player would ridicule us should see us breathing fire but can we even do that?

Yes it is. That's how far we've fallen as a footy side.

But that doesn't change the fact that Kozzie and Fritta aren't kicking 0.6 between them every week. If they kick 4.2 next week between them we might actually win against a lesser opponent or go very close.

Saw Richmond live on Saturday - id say they start faves against us. Quality is lacking in spots as you would expect however they are playing as a connected unit and work in unison.

There is an ascent coming the way of the Tigers and it is not too far away; a few more experiential opportunities for their team , and its newer components and they will be off like rockets. Yze is a brain, as he showed onfield for the Dees. I really feel our negligence in not keeping him, to ascend (at least a year ago) to Goodwin's position, was a critical miscalculation; geez, it's more than mere coaching, it is the dismantling of our DNA - there are quite a few retired Dees who could form the best 'coaching coterie' that the game has ever seen and it would bring with it the pride of the red 'n blue including an amazing level of resolve to be part of the team worthy of continuous successes.
