If you were collingwood would you rather Rowell or Petracca?

Reckon Rowell stays at the Suns if they're pushing for finals.

Petracca's actions on Friday night were a plea to other clubs to "come and get me" from this mess.

With the whole footy world to view on a Friday night selfish behaviour from a player that wants out.

The club knew what they were trading out in the off season to Essendon.

They have probably made a deal with Christian to play 1 more year until a suitable trade can be found to provide us with a way back into top 10 draft territory.

Kozzie might have the same arrangement also.

I thought his body language after the match was generally consistent with his usual emotional-self, and didn’t see anything “performative” about it at all.

Do we really have to analyse and try to “read in” to why a guy who’s worked like a mofo to get through a potentially career/life-ending incident, might be [censored] off to find himself in the middle of a rabble at the end of it all?

And for what it’s worth, Jordan Lewis is getting absolutely roasted on social media (by non-MFC supporters, mind you) for his negative comments about Trac showing that kind of emotion.

I think Christian and his now new management are well aware we are not accepting anything other than a top 10 pick and another inside the 1st round.

Clubs didn't have time to arrange anything suitable in the short time frame during the season whilst this was playing on in the background.

They will now have had a full year to plan and make a proper proposal to us now.

Are these comments based on facts/inside info or pure speculation.

If the latter please do not make it sound like the former. TIA.

Trac has the power/upperhand

He'll get to wherever he wants.

Can't say I really blame him atm.

How do you figure that? If we want him gone, maybe, but he has a large contract with us. We hold the power.

I dare say that was the way. Premium players have shown a great tenacity and scoring rate in the ability to drive their destiny and get to their preferred destination. Just an observation

This is part of Lewis' comment last night:

“Because I think at end you’ve got him, who’s clearly disappointed, it means a lot to him, he’s a competitor, he likes to win. And then you’ve got Clayton Oliver — who is also competitive — effectively joking with opposition players at the end of the game.”

Is that to be interpreted as Oliver is on his way to Geelong?

Which reaction do you prefer after the third thrashing in a row: Petracca who was among out best wearing his heart on his sleeve or Oliver laughing with the opp.?

Reckon both are pretty ordinary. Oliver looks like he's just going through the motions, Petracca looks like he's genuinely miserable to be playing here. Wonder what the young players are thinking seeing a senior player carry on like that.

Good lord, it's so bad the media are interpreting body language now

Trac was upset after a loss, Clarry was joking. Reminds me of the 'Watts was smiling after the loss' threads.

Can we get a win so this nonsense stops please!?

This is popping into multiple sports these days.
Players seemingly have more comradery these days and have a joke after a game (apart from Mac Andrew aha), doesnt always sit well with older players or fans.

Personally I couldn't care less if they have a sherbet or six after a game and go out dancing together..

But, get off the field and out of the jumper first please .

Both of them couldn’t get over to Maynard last time we played them for some japing and smiling alongside May

Unforgivable

Good luck getting pick 10

Oliver and brand have less value now than last year

I agree! I was disgusted that all three went and joked with Maynard.

Pick 10 wasn't my suggestion - it was a previous poster.

I hope they both stay.

Does he? Surely the club has the power, since he signed a lengthy contract with us. Otherwise, he would already be gone. Add to this that he has an inexperienced player agent when it comes to contracts. Yes I know she could get registration by October but my understanding her experience is more with corporate contracts and brand building, rather than negotiating with clubs.

Tracc did not show any tenacity last trading period, and I think it made him look less appealing to other clubs.

Oh boy, mixing family with business most of the time doesn't work out.

His brother is also an agent, isn't he?

At the agency he just left.

Brown Dog for mine.

Still plenty of work ahead to cement a regular spot and may be in and out a few times. But i'd have him straight in replacing Nibbler as his apprentice.

Not saying he would automatically be up to Nibbler's standards but he might make a decent fist of it.

Loved his second half against the Cats on Friday.

Worth giving him a trial run for a block of games.

Fix the root cause.

Most players like playing at successfull (or those they believe are heading for success) footy clubs.

Fix the root cause.

Great, I'm now firmly in the camp of trading both these guys but Oliver most importantly. I'd take a highish first round pick and they pay the bulk of his salary. We need the picks and we just don't need the attention. I'd want a top 10 pick for Petracca and all his salary. You can want more but the reality is these guys are nearing 30, one comes with significant baggage and the other likely doesn't want to do the hard work required to lift this club back to the top. Pickett I say he has to stay at least one more year and then we'll talk. Get 2 more highish picks into taylor's hands, a new coach and a assistants and a strong CEO and board and I'm of the belief this list will flourish. Get a new coach in the mould of Kent Kingsley. I just can't imagine he would tolerate the rubbish we've put up with. I love love but listening to my coach talk this dribble must make the Harvey Langford's of the team think WTF!

The biggest issues with Oliver are due to his lack of pace.

As a result, his defensive game has declined. He is now averaging 4.0 tackles per game and 22 pressure acts, which is 2 fewer tackles and 5 fewer pressure acts per game. (The tackling stats may be partly due to his hand injury.)

Offensively, his possessions are back near to his 2021-2023 peak this season, but metres gained is 315 versus 423-453 in those seasons. He has never been a great kick, but he was getting a lot more penetration 2 years ago.

This season he has a Wheelo Player rating of 10.43, which is 149 in the AFL. If we can get off his contract without paying any salary, I would be in favour of a trade.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
