Probably a good idea that the site was upgrading whilst the Bombers got their first win of the season.

hahahahaha

I still had to watch it. 😭

Watched the first 3 quarters. Very low quality affair. I don’t think port will challenge this season

That seriously looked like a late season game where both teams were cooked.

those two saturday night games should be crackers

Is footy still played on Saturday night? I must check my local guide.

If I didn't see the game does that mean it didn't exist & the bummers didn't win?

Sounds like I didn't miss much & I'm guessing ken will be talked about again.

Ah yes. Forgot about that one. Still could have put it in a stand alone spot.

Would love CH7 to poach David King.

At one stage Kingy called the game a shoot out...I think at the time scores were 4 goals to 2.

A shoot out without any shots fired.

Then there was the call berating Wines for his poor handball turnover...I didn't know Wines was a redhead (it was Logan Evans).

Another big call was that JHF needed help in the middle...he needed help alright, help to get out of 2nd gear. Both him & Rozee just coasted, they needed a rocket.

Port look insipid without Butters.

What a terrible game of footy it was.

Hope so. There’s a couple Essendon supporters at my work and this week I got reminded that at the core of all Essendon supporters footy soul, there is mostly a dark endless void, but if you squint real hard into it, deep deep down, there’s a little tiny flickering light way off into the distance, which is actually a dense, raging nucleus made of pure unadulterated arrogance.

Hate em. Will never feel sympathy for them.

Go Port.

It's so cool that after being two of the 3 superpowers from the late 70s to the early noughties it's so satisfying to see Carlton will probably go past a 30-year flag drought and Essendon's probably going to wait 22 plus years just to win any final. You would have been committed if you insisted either would happen back round 2001. 😊

Where to know for Port, they have the succession plan in place, is there any point in letting Hinkley see the year out. Hard to see them making finals, with regards to player retention are they better off making the move now.

Any parallel’s for our club?

Imagine being a port fan. Such great players and never even made a GF

Most inconsistent team ever

Those multiple prelim thrashings must haunt them

So many teams would infuriate their fans. This decade I'd rather be a Dees fan.

25k there last night?

Essendon supporters are pathetic

Marvel sucks

Essendon sucks. Even after last night they look mediocre. Oh, and the game finished at 10pm on a work night. I can understand why many didn't bother.

Their supporters are pathetic, they drop off as soon as their team struggles

Zero excuses

How about Geelong?

40,000 capacity at CatPark but only 25k for the Freo game

Pathetic

I'm calling this round 'redemption round'

The teams have have been kicked will right their ships

Bombers, then the Blues, followed by the Demons

I listened to Maxy talk about this very thing (maybe triple MMM footy or something) and he said in Roos last year coaching us, Goody was effectively in charge and coaching the team and Roos was mostly just taking the heat from the media if things went wrong.

He went on to say that the Carr/Hinkley set up is very likely the same deal. Carr is effectively coach whilst Hinkley advises him and takes the media spotlight for this year.

On the train to Marvel Stadium ...

"This is the third time; I hope good luck lies in odd numbers. Away, go. They say there is divinity in odd numbers, either in nativity, chance, or death."

Not sure why I am going, but I am 😁

Carn the Blues.

Let’s hope you get absolutely THRASHED

Before things start off tonight…

What was going on with the surface at Marvel last night?

Seems like nobody could pick up the ball cleanly for the first half. A bit too sweaty combined with a greasy surface?

It was diabolical.

How long is Curnow contracted for,?

And back to dark mode can we also have a black and white mode that is blank during pies games.

Will be fun to see who is left by round 19 against the giants. But, hey, you never know, the Bombers have been on the cusp of a big upswing for about 13 years...

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

With their season all over bar the shouting the Demons head back on the road for the third week in a row as they return to Adelaide to take on the Crows. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
