Hendo from the clouds for a debut!

Makes for a interesting line up - potentially Roo had a set back with his back, 4 tall forwards in the wet is choice

Johnson is a third or fourth backup forward at best and ok ruckman! If he gets a game round 1 we are already struggling in 2025 IMV

Bit harsh picket. In the wet, you want strong second efforts for when the ball hits the deck which I think Johnson delivers in spades

Langford, Lindsay, Jeffo, Johnson and Hendo. Sharp club debut too.

Johnson allows us to not play JVR in the ruck and plays with a level of physicality Turner doesn't. Looked a lot stronger in the practice matches and would be better in the wet imo.

Giants will be walking the ball out of our forwardline, that is madness.

New era, spewing one of my best mates has his 40th on during the game. Will be glued to my phone for updates.

So 6 debuts inc Sharp — means Roo or Disco are out..

Let’s pray it’s just Turner in form, hope is that club Likely would’ve published JVR pulling out with injury so let’s hope it’s Turner for form reasons perhaps..

LOVE Hendo storming into the side — massive wraps wow wow can’t wait to see the kid play! Rkn Jeffo sub is my guess..

Surely JVR pulling out would be released by club.. SURELY!!! 😬

Club confirmed 6 debutants will play.

I like it...the excitement and speed of youth early in the season, Goody must have been watching the Tigers last night!

Boy oh boy wowee

I don’t think anyone saw all six playing

It essentially means three others already named won’t play

Billings and TMac were on the extended bench so I’m guessing they didn’t make the cut

Perhaps Turner too? or JVR a late out? Probably the only way bringing in both AJ and Jefferson makes sense

Either way super exciting!

Very unlikely the team lines up that way but the backline looks unbalanced to me.

I agree that's the most likely but....

can't see us going with all of jvr, fritsch, turner, jefferson, and johnson

if latter two are playing, i'm assuming at least one of the first three aren't

i presume jvr has not come up from his back issue

All those saying it’s madness and we are too tall etc — one will be Sun and 6 don’t go into 5 so obviously a tall is out we jsut need to wait and see whom!

and prey it ain’t JVR…

Salem looked fantastic in parts against Freo, he’s always happy to hold the ball and step around one or more opponents. If he can hold fitness and health we’re already better than last year.

I’ve always liked Salem as he dispose of the ball well and so holds onto the ball a little longer even if he is going to get collected. It’s not like he’s 6 foot six and 100kg.
I’m sure it’s costed him quite a bit in impact injuries. Respect.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
