If they break up does Jacko request a trade back to Perth in 2027? Genuine question!

It is kind of funny that he would say it even as a joke. Seems like a never say never person even if happy in that moment.

He's just the type of person who wants to be everyone's mate.

Probably that too yeah.

Enjoying Freo fans having a go at the media about this, as if they haven't been frothing over Warner/Pickett articles etc.

He's not welcome in my book.

He seemed to have checked out too early on the field before leaving.

Not very classy.

If he wants to change clubs again, surely you would be skeptical of recruiting him.

I feel your pain.

His performance and effort in 2022 finals was pathetic and unprofessional.

I don't care what he does.

If he can’t make up his mind to where he wants to be then best forget about him. He could come back to us and decide mid season he wants to play for Collingwood the following season.

Jon Ralph.

Fremantle star Luke Jackson told his management only days ago he wanted to play in the club’s first premiership despite a new relationship that will see Victorian clubs asking about his services.

Melbourne-based clubs have not given up hope of luring Jackson home despite five more seasons on a contract that will pay him over $4 million in that time.

Given the trade period is seven months away anything could happen despite him being traded from Fremantle three years into his career.

But Jackson is understood to have told his management across the weekend it was a lifestyle choice to come back home which he wanted to see out.

He was aware of murmurs about his future at that stage.

But he is chasing Fremantle’s first flag (he was part of the 2021 Demons premiership) and is largely happy at the Dockers after moving home three years into a career that started at Melbourne.

His preferred position is to play first ruck or around the ball as a modern-day rover rather than spending his time predominantly as a key forward.

He lives in Fremantle, has two properties in the west and enjoys the beach lifestyle that is part of being a Dockers player.

Jackson told the club on Sunday he was content at Fremantle and he has a deal through to 2029 that the Dockers would not release him from.

Jackson, 23, is in a relationship with former Australian Diamond and Fox commentator Kelsey Browne, who is working with the West Coast Fever in media and commentary.

Fremantle would never consider a trade for a player with 10 more seasons to play at the Dockers, with five years remaining on his current deal.

So while Jackson might have been open-minded about moving to Victoria he will see out his deal at Fremantle.

The Dockers have the option of sweetening a contract that is incentive-laden and pays him extremely well but not in the top echelon of AFL players.

Just as Essendon’s Zach Merrett was able to use rival interest to ensure his contract was one of footy’s most lucrative, Jackson could also cash in.

The 23-year-old’s deal doesn’t give him the guaranteed money that many of the game’s stars have been able to secure.

He is able to earn over $800,0000 a year if he hits incentives, but as the Herald Sun revealed last year there will be as many as 60 AFL millionaires by 2027.

I love this story, just for that purpose alone.  They're happy to try and unsettle the MFC via the Kozzie rumours, so I'm more than happy for it to go back the other way as well.

Actually wonder if our administration had something to do with planting the rumours on that basis.  Credit to them in some ways if they did, though based on the character of those at the MFC, I highly doubt that is the case.

Reports suggest that Mrs Jackson has turned the household vegan and gluten free as part of a New Year's resolution. Jacko found out when he received a mushroom steak on steak night and was livid - this is the "complex personal circumstance" they were talking about. The girlfriend stuff is just a smokescreen

I think it absolutely came from us. The timing wasn't a coincidence and apparently Fremantle had a meeting with Jackson a week or so earlier asking him about the noise.

Nah. The story is all legit, and has nothing to do with us leaking. My source in Perth has a connection with a member of the Jackson family, and has known about it for a month. I won't go into too much detail, but let's just say that LJ returned to WA for family and lifestyle reasons. That's all been turned on it's head since being in a relationship. Someone correctly posted that LJ likes to please everyone.

Well he didn’t please me when he left

I love love LOVE Freo being all worked up, and on the defensive and in full/constant dismissal mode.

Let a thousand lazy baseless 'articles' bloom about the LJ relationship/purported relationship drivers/'old' homesickness etc etc etc ad nauseam. And then some.

I know there's some hope and excitement about his return - and yeah he's a great player - and would no doubt probably fil a space originally intended for him, but for a guy who supposedly likes to please everyone, he checked out of this club for at least the last half of 2022, and his finals series was lame, at best. I'm not as ecstatic about his potential return.

But the media feeding on this 'story' like the vultures they are, I like very much.

We could help it along by having someone lean over the players race with a dees jumper with his name on it when we play freo.

@Demonland can you please photo shop that image

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
