It is the Mornington Football Ground. And it is Elwood Peckett (not Picket), son of ex 250 game Saint, Justin Peckett.

I think Stingray players have the choice of opting for either Metro or Country. Probably the chance of a bit more exposure if electing Country over Metro, but my god the travelling for training 😱

As the experts say the harder you train the luckier you get, might have been RDB. Boy Harvey Langford is so damn impressive, I’m not exaggerating but I was really hanging out for Langfordd for our first pick, would have taken him if we had pick 1.

Stingrays zone includes Frankston and District Junior Football League, South East Juniors and Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League. All of these leagues are considered to be Country Football Leagues so no Stingrays players don’t have a choice.

Sounds a bit like the firefighting demarcation: CFA (vs MFB) includes a lot of what is suburban Melbourne

You and Tim Lamb both, DZ. He said before the draft Harvey was a must-have and they were delighted to have the opportunity to pick him. 

early on you are looking for glimpses of something special. this kid produced a few on the weekend. the one hand gather that left rocket onto the leading full forwards chest probably the highlight.

Very likely Rab, my father used to tell me he went into the country for WW11 army maneuvers. Guess where? Dandenong. Then off on the first troop ship to New Guinea and the Kokoda.

Ground was Alexandra Park, in Mornington. Can see the new Pavilion (with name) in the background.

That's interesting OD. Your story reminded me of when I was a kid back home and one summer we had the Gordon Highlander regiment (which doesn't exist any more) practicing manoeuvres in our town before being deployed in Northern Ireland at the height of the troubles. I remember one of them hiding behind a hedge in our front garden in full gear with a rifle. Nowadays army manoeuvres in Dandenong would be good practice for deployment in Afghanistan.

I'm pretty sure my late father told me that maybe about the time the VFL started in the late 1800s that Brighton, Melbourne was considered a country town and the rich would take the train there to stay in their holiday homes.

Until just a few years ago I owned a cottage on Beach Rd Sandringham.  On researching its history it was built in the late 1800's and was originally someone's holiday house.  

As @Rab D Nesbitt said Sandringham and surrounds were the Portsea of its day where those of East Melbourne would train it to Sandy.  It is why that train line was built; the Sandy station is the end of the line.  

Sandy, Hampton and Brighton Beach stations are opposite the beach but other stations needed horse and buggy to get to the beach.

Yep! My first 30 years were this neck of the woods. I'd say the famous beach houses/boxes nearish to where Dendy St meets Beach Rd would have a connection to a lot of these well-to-do and their holiday houses.

We just experienced our future and it will be worth going to games to watch him play.

So just want to draw attention to his stunning debut.
