Loved Robbo show of passion to the members after the game.

As he ran past the bench to join his teammates, he clapped us members and grabbed his jumper as if to say "show you're proud to wear red & blue"

I thought it was great. He was great.

As for the article, good on him for showing support for the coach. It doesn't mean much though, because as he said, the board will make a rational decision, not an emotional one.

I'll have a go. Why was Bruce played out of the goal square when the guy can't kick for goal to save himself?

Why wasn't Leon Davis tagged heavily at stop plays in their attacking 50?

Just two observations. I hate it when Danners goes and gets us all believing again. This has happened too many times. I think the bloke is one of the nicer coaches going around, probably the nicest one, which is one of his biggest flaws (as a coach, not as a person). As a team, we're too nice and have been throughout his tenure at the helm. The fact that we can get on big winning streaks is more an indication of the talent we have on our list than any masterful coaching by The Rev. The fact that they can't do it week in week out probably has a lot to do with the coach not being able to get the team to play consistently good football. We've probably seen a solid 4 quarter effort from the Demons once or twice a season for the past 10. That's not good enough unfortunately.

I think he needs to go at the end of this season.

wow so because our 'best' player is played in a different position the coach is to blame, and becuase one out of the oposition 22 gets away it is the coach's fualt, not because one of the dees players who were given the job could not man him properly. if every player of every week could be kept under raps it would be a very boring league, davis was rubbish by the way and even when he was effectual it did not cost us, so why should daniher go?

im not a Danners boy by a long shot, but he seemed a littel more inventive and proactive ( as opposed to REACTIVE ) today. That was good.. calll a spade a spade..it was good. Where possible the ball moved through the corridor...if an instruction..that was good. We returned to a huddle at kick ins...that worked...that was good.

Some good was done today !! :-) time will tell.

still not convinced.. but a damn site happier :-)

agree im not the biggest fan, but his coaching v the pies was pro active, bruce to the square was a good move as it dragged swan or h shaw to the goal square too and they werent willing to risk running off bruce too often cos they knew he would hurt them on the rebound, well he would have if his kicking was better yesterday :(

Can anyone tell me the last time an AFL team came out in the press halfway through a season and canned their Coach?

Absolutely right. The only players that do bag coaches mid season are the troublemakers you don't want at the club anyway. The ones who don't like him will shut up until the next one is appointed.

I still don't think he'll be coaching us next year but happy to savour the win for the moment.

I support Neale 110% too.

I reckon they'll give him another 2 years

Interesting article just popped up on the mfc website............

http://melbournefc.com.au/Season2007/News/...px?newsId=44866

so much for all of you who say Mr Daniher doesn't have the respect of the team!

You can tell that the players love him. I reckon almost every senior player has come out and said don't blame the coach. After the game when Danners waited for them to come off they all ran up and hugged him and patted him on the back and stuff. You can tell that they really want to win for him. It will be interesting to see what they do.

Thought Neales coaching yesterday was brilliant

Expecially his use of PJ

He's changed the directive to the players re the gameplan in the last two weeks.

I have significantly less issues with him now because of that.

However I'm still not convinced he's the right man going forward.

That said, he was excellent yesterday. Only thing I would have done different is tagged Ben Johnson - from the first five minutes it was clear he was going to be a problem.

a littel ironic ... some of us here have been wanting the two tall to stay on where poss and rotate through the forward line resting. lo and behold exactly as yesterday.. worked a treat. Wont work all th etime I realise, but twhen you can stretch the defence doing it and maintian some clearances, why wouldnt you !!

I was happy we beat the filth. I was also happy for ND because I reckon he did a lot for the club on & off the field since he's been here. But I will wait to see how the 2nd half of the season unfolds before I really feel whether he is the right bloke for us.

At the moment - I'm happy :-)

The players are the last people who should be in control of who coaches a team, this happened at St.Kilda a couple of yars ago and it nearly did them in.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
