Asking about Preseason Training times.

I probably ask this question every year, but does anyone know when the club will resume full training after the Xmas/New Years break, next year?

I want to catch at least one session at Gosch’s with my son, if I’m in any condition to make the trip down from Sydney; unfortunately there’s no way we can get to Casey, so sessions there are out of the question.

Thanks in advance!

For the actual start to preseason, I reckon you’d be looking at 11 November for the 1st to 4 year players and 25 November for the balance.

You’d imagine there will be a stack of senior players making early appearances for obvious reasons.

Thanks BBP!

However and apologies, I should have been clearer, as I’m thinking of next year after they return from the Xmas/new year break. I’ll amend my original post.

Check the MFC website.

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/teams/training-times

Sometimes they post only the next sessions and sometimes will post a few weeks in a row.

I find they get a routine going that you can predict where they will train.

I know some track watchers will ring the club and ask them.

They have family days with training and entertainment, usually during school holidays. These are best for engaging the youngsters.

Last season they began post chrissy, Monday, January 15th and posted the times soon after.

Gosch's Paddock 2024

Wednesday January 17

9:30am - 11:30am

Wednesday January 24

9:30am - 11:30am

Wednesday January 31

9:30am - 11:30am

Casey Fields 2024

Friday January 19

9:30am - 11:30am

Monday January 22

9:30am - 11:30am

Friday January 26

9:30am - 11:30am

Monday January 29

9:30am - 11:30am

My guess is they will do Gosch's again on the Wednesday.

@Katrina Dee Fan has shown exceptional reporting form with the women, backed up by @kev martin. Will we see you stepping in for 'Guest' (we all know who I mean 😪), Kat, come the men's return to Tan, Paddock & Fields?

Unfortunately not, I work full time and I just can’t get to training, sadly. I should be able to do January training, though, since I’ll be in school hols.

Thanks @kev martin, that’s very helpful.

I’d hate to get down there only to find they were at Casey… because we’ll be flying down on hard earned frequent flyer points I suspect we will therefore need to book a fair way in advance, something that only adds to the degree of difficulty.

Usually at this time the occasional person spots a few having a run pre official training at Gosh's

I don't think they have such things at Casey. pf's reports seem to be always from the outside fence while watching for Joe blakes!

While we await the start of training, this has just popped up on the Club's website.

It's sort of relevant, inasmuch as it's an indicator of some of things that training creates, as they manifested in 2024.

Maybe some surprises herein; some discussion may result, too!

(p.s. The cynic in me raises its 'Why now?' eyebrow at the timing of this 'feel good' story!)

Very good results for Chandler  Sparrow and especially Tholstrup in his first year. Expected for Lingers and the Adelaide player.

But we still didn’t  make the finals despite these earth shattering statistics

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
