I know.. just being sarcastic Daz.

I have be saying all along it seemed only logical he hadn't actually signed. Lots of folks suggesting other ideas but ...well... 🍩🍩🍩

No player is going to tell random supporters over the fence their ins and outs of their contract status. It’s a good laugh though :)

Well i don't think the particular supporter you are referring to is random at all. Nor do I consider re-hashing this over and over again a "good laugh". Further, this particular poster provides more information and certainly more entertaining posts than 99.99% of posters on DL. If you want that input to stop, then simply just keep posting this sort of stuff. Personally, I enjoy her posts and think DL is a better place with her participating.

So what exactly is going on here? My read is he has held off siigning without some assurances he gets more minutes further up the ground? Is that it?

This speaks straight to recent Goodwin 'reflections' players chased stats, and accolades without a common team purpose. We've already made that mistake with Petty I suspect.

I've been McVee's biggest fan from day 1 and his first handball (you can check the tapes). Ive called for him to be in the middle for 3 years BUT l agree with a few here that at the end of last year's trial, he looked totally lost. Now maybe he needs to train with the mids, maybe he wants his role to change into a high half back? But we already have Bowey who is a much more penetrating, deeper and flatter kick. Not everyone can play up the field. Bringing in AMW is fine but a backline with McVee, Bowey and AMW is way too short for afl level imo, especially if Rivers also deserves time up the ground.

Generally speaking, the way its looking its going to be a miracle for us to make finals next year. We have question marks on half our players right now, either off field movement or on field ability. Its like that cafeteria scene from spiderman where all the items are up in the air what are the chances they all land up correctly.

Once again we are attacking a current player and denigrating him because he might leave.

This is not specifically aimed at you, but rather posters generally.

It’s ok to post you don’t think someone will make it, but do we really need to ridicule our players?

Yeah - you'd never do that...

Who's that bloke playing for the Crows right now?

I hope he signs on the dotted line. A mosquito brigade of Bowey, AMW, Lindsay, Rub and McVee in the back line and on the wings can be a formidable force with their speed and skill. It’s the only part of the ground we can confidently say we have raw speed.

You have a very good memory and I did knock him for his playing ability long before he needed to leave, but I didn't ridicule him as a person, that is completely untrue.

It is different saying you don't think a player is great, to ridiculing him personally, which is what I was getting at.

Further If I recall correctly, I wished him well on leaving and understood why he left.

Lastly I have had some interaction with him and found him to be a fantastic guy and I wish him and his family only the best.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

Thanks for keeping us up to date, engaged and for bringing a smile to our faces Ghosty

I don't know that any of us really know, but I think it's about being less of a lock-down defender and having more freedom to play an attacking role. I'm not sure he's asking for more midfield time per se, just more flexibility as a defender.

Could be wrong ...

Could not agree more. You can believe the posts or not. Up to the reader. But I like em!

I definitely want him to sign, but this feels like it's going uncomfortably long. End of the season passed. New coach was hired. It sounds like there hasn't been a huge offer from another club to weigh up. What is the trigger for this to happen?

I really hope it's not midfield minutes that's the sticking point, I like McVee as a player and I want to believe he's happy to play where the coach thinks he works best.

Apart from a good season he has been underwhelming! Overated is my take and couldn't care less if he stays or goes!

Still waiting for the McVee news !!! It’s compelling

We should hear by the end of next week. King will come in and say “let’s get it done “. We are going places young man, you’re very much wanted and we need you on board.

Seems to me he is misleading people to buy time .. why? .. well only guessing ... he will declare he wants to move once trade period starts ... has a silent agreement with mfc he can be part of a trade ... club he wants to go to can't commit until other pieces fall into place

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
