I'm tipping that Jai Culley gets #44 so he gets a locker next to his fellow SSP recruit Jack Henderson.

Kentfield is 44. 46 the next available with 34 seemingly reserved.

Correct.

Luker Kentfield is jumper number #44.

Jai Culley will probably take number #46 or perhaps number #49 which he wore at the Eagles.

OK so #46 it is. Not a bad idea. His story is one of perseverance and resilience and the two blokes in adjoining lockers are going to need to follow that example in the coming year.

Mickey Reynolds for the jumper presentation  ?

Jai has been told he’s #46 and he’s bloody happy with that. He’s bloody happy to be with us, in general. Haven’t asked about his nickname yet. The night is young 😅

Hope you and the rest of the Demon Army have a wonderful evening! ❤️💙

What # is Mentha?  (Seems 34 about the only vacant one...)

We did, thank you SD. There weren’t as many of us this year mainly due to the outrageous jump in ticket prices, but we were still as boisterous as always. It’s easy to forget we’re not in M3 at the ‘G just yet 🤭

Hahahahaha! That's brilliant! 😁

"The Bison" is now official for Harvey Langford.

Thank you for that! Never given an AFL player their own nickname before.

I used to love "The Ox" David Schwarz though! I actually can't remember who gave him that nickname (maybe Garry Lyon?) but I do remember he apparently had a number plate on his car that said "The Ox" back in the late 1990s or early 2000s.

Now we just gotta get BT and Bruce McAvaney to start calling Harvey Langford "The Bison" when they commentate on TV.

I was put out by Schwarter getting The Ox, simply because my surname is Oxley, and that was my brother's nickname when he played junior footy!

Expect the debut jumper presentation by Dean Terlich?

Was struggling to think of players who previously wore 46, so consulted the great Demonwiki

http://demonwiki.org/Number+46

Was amazed to learn that the great state cricketer Brad Hodge played a reserves game for us wearing this No. back in 94.  Must be a bit of a cricketers No. as it was also worn for a year by Maxy Walker.

Troy Simons probably being the  most noteworthy wearer of the jumper asides from Turlich (who I thought played a few good games for us)

From some of the videos put out by yhe MFC, the two really seem to get along, which is awesome IMHO.

It is awesome and really imperative. Every one of the new boys has been warmly welcomed and made to feel like part of the “family” and it shows.

On the subject, considering the reports of Dan Houston deciding against a move to the MFC because of supposed ingrained toxic culture problems, etc., I’ve asked each of our new guys individually if this was ever a concern for them or their parents. Without exception, all said that it wasn’t. They’d clearly met with our club with open minds and seen for themselves that they’d be part of a great club.

Anyone who says yeah but at the time of Houston possibly wanting to come here the culture was indeed terrible, I say no, culture and values and integrity of a club don’t change overnight. I’m not denying we had problems, coz we did. But the dramatic and scathing reports are clearly incongruous with the trust parents of rookies are showing for our club. IMHO

46 is a bloody good number. I've never been happier to see someone get it, never ever.

Terlich finished 3rd in the Bluey behind Nathan Jones and Colin Garland.

Thanks, I didn't reacall that and I wasn't trying to be sarcastic about Terlich playing a few good games.  In my personal opponion, he showed signs of potentially becoming a really good player given where he'd come from as a mature age recruit.  It's just a pity that maybe he didn't quite have it in him to go to that next level where the team was heading towards becoming an elite backline.

Similar story for Colin.  Was actually a little disappointed that Colin didn't remain on our list those years we had the success, as I always thought he was an honest contributor in the period we were getting smashed every week and it would have been hell being a defender at the MFC.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
