I’ve got a little family connection to Jack as well so rapt to have him at the Dees.

Fitness won’t be an issue, he’s an elite runner and has kept himself ticking over in the off-season.

Club have earmarked that ANB high half forward spot as his role.

Nice little snippet on the club’s instagram where Jason Taylor talks about this in the pre-draft meeting.

As some have said, if Adelaide had taken Langford we’d have taken Tauru at our first pick and then Hendo later in the draft to balance out the list. As it happened we went two “smalls” so took Johnson as the tall.

Edit: @adonskihas managed to successfully embed the video above which I could not!

Alright then, might have another person to compete with Kade Chandler for the ANB role.

Going by the jumper, it really has been slack of the media department.

He was at the Club already last year!

Potentially 2 beauties with these 2 guys.  Great recruitment (hopefully)

I expect both to play round 1

How long is Kenty out for?

What is the length of time one has to be injured for before a replacement can registered?

Half a season/ Full season?

Any player placed on the inactive list means they will be out for at least the whole season. They can’t be taken off it until the following year which means they’re marked ineligible to play at any level until the next season.

Watching the recruiting team talk about Henderson, it is hard to believe they went for Johnson.

I feel like Henderson was going to be the one to be more likely for regular game time in the firsts. It's a moot point now. Got em both.

Hopefully this can end the "I can't believe we gave player X another contract and missed out on Z" comments. We got the players we wanted.

Roy George who doesn't quite look ready for the big time yet and Jai Culley who would struggle to break into a strong midfield are both at Casey. The only downside is that they won't be able to train with the main squad during the season.

Not at all?

Yep. The ANB link specifically noted by Taylor, although in terms of character rather than footy. But the various highlights videos show a lot of similarities there, too. And, according to JT, not a fumbler. Might avoid ANB's early 'whipping boy' years?!

I will let someone else give a definitive answer as I'm not 100% sure.

If you aren't on the list then you won't be getting paid enough to quit your day job as a start.

interesting the Lambert analogy

Some pretty glowing reviews from both Jason Taylor and Tim Lamb in the video shown.

I think the Demons are pretty chuffed to have gotten him as a SSP, albeit due to unfortunate circumstances.

I wish Shane McAdam a speedy recovery.

Nevertheless, what is most impressive from Jack Henderson's highlights video is how clean he is with the ball and the fact that he can kick goals from outside 50 metres (which should almost be a prerequisite for all modern AFL players).

I wish Jack Henderson all the best at the Demons!

Does anybody know who the second player Jason Taylor was referring to in their briefing?

I assume it was Culley. Pure assumption.

I feel bad for Culley. Sounds like he has done enough. I just can't see him breaking into a midfield with our standard Oliver, Petracca, Viney trio with Rivers, Pickett, Langdon the new rotations.

Sparrow really should have made a position his own last year. It will be interesting to see how he goes this year.

Very happy that we went Henderson over the other 2 options we had lined up.

Outside 50? I'm sure a limit of maybe 35 or 40m kicking range is essential. But if a player can kick passes of 30m with amazing accuracy, successfully mark or tackle whenever the ball is within 10m or convert every ground ball into a teammate's possession maybe long kicks don't matter.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
