Yeh Doggie is Danners fav player.

and to be honest, it's easy to see why. every club needs a guy like him...he's massively popular. He's a hard worker, and great trainer. He runs his heart out every week. He took a really difficult path to afl footy and never takes it for granted. He is well respected by the younger players...

on that same note, i never understood why daniher loved nicho so much.

and you don't know why nicholson was a favourite of Neale? look at what you wrote about Browny, applies perfectly.

Nicholson and Brown both posses something that is really hard to judge from the grandstand. leadership. they are both guys who would always be encouraging not just on game day but during the week.

If you look at quotes from younger players at the club both nicholson and Brown would be mentioned as mentors.

Both were named in leadership groups, are intelliegent and seem very good blokes that and would bleed for the red and blue.

How could any demon fan not admire them?

Hi i'm new.

Big all used to be danahers love child who do you think is the current one that will not get delisted untill they acually retire.

I actually think it James McDonald. I remember reading about it once how he favours james. Also I think he has a soft spot for Godderes cause he is a battler. But McDonald is his favourite

Yep, in no particular order, Daniher's favourites appear to be:

McDonland

Brown

Godfrey

Heffernan

Do you write McDonland instead of McDonald on purpose? That's at least three times I've seen you write that now. :P (Edit: According to the search you've done it 15 times )

BTW I believe Godfrey and Brown have earned the right to be "favourites" given their endeavour, hardness and work ethic. These guys would throw themselves on a grenade for the team, and that's a quality which our coach appears to rate highly.

Not quite sure what he sees in Ward though.

I reckon Chip Frawley would be pretty high up there.

Elevated to the senior team after half a game at Sandy.

Retained his spot after an ordinary debut.

Good decision btw, he's going to be a real asset.

When you consider what he actually brings to the table you'd have to admit that "Millsy" would have fair credentials. The test is how many absolutely foul consecutive games they can play before being dropped. Recall he missed the last match only because of a sore wrist after putting in 4 stinkers.

well Warnock 2 years ago made his debut despite missing the previous 5 games to injury and only a half a game at sandy...so lets let frawley have a few games before he's labelled a love child

Doggie Brown for sure...

Jared Rivers.

And Robbo.

I've heard Neale speak on many occasions about these 3 players, with nothing but the absolute highest regard.

brown and ward, he seems to favour the duds

Good grief  ......

Honestly, the reasons for Wards continual inclusion escape me too, but there must be something Daniher sees in him that we obviously don't.

As for the other two "duds" (and I hate that word with a fiery passion and always will) Nasher is totally right.

It is their fairly obvious work ethic and teamwork that would have them in the coaches good books.

And please lets not start to criticise that now shall we.

He also loves 'the skipper'!

who doesnt...?? lol

i think it is probs. brown, godfrey or miller

bell has deserved his position all year, absolutely no questions about that. to suggest otherwise is silly.

Daniel Bell

He did play well on the weekend. but he has been playing every week when it isn't warranted.

I can hear Jaded typing her defence of Bell as we speak....

While Nicholson always copped flak I felt he was decent for us - always looked like he was playing to his potential and wasn't exactly competing against a plethora of FBs.

Ward's quite quick and is a bit of a ball magnet who is prepared to run with the ball. At times he gives us good drive off the HBF, and did so fairly well last year. Ward benefits from the fact we have a relatively one-paced team.

PS. Obviously his downsides have been written about many times; I don't see the need to repeat them - just pointing out the attributes that help him get selected by ND.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
