Just what he’s been saying in any interviews - training hard, disappointed with last year, going to get MFC back up the ladder. Seems very focused and more serious than usual.

I’ve heard otherwise…. But I hope you’re right. This whole thing with Clarry has been rumour fueled for two years

Didn't the Geelong interest predate the club gauging interest from others?

Yes they were after him throughout the year but the recent reports indicate Oliver was pretty settled until he heard we were shopping him around which is why he opened up to their offer and actually went to meet with them.

I had a dream last night.

We win the flag next year, with Tracc winning his second Norm Smith, after Clarry won the Brownlow, with Max breaking records with another AA and our pick 5 winning the Rising Star, after JVR wins his first Coleman.

How quickly would all this media garbage last if my dream came true?

Tom Morris reports

Clayton Oliver dumps on Christian Petracca thinking he should have won the Norm Smith as he is the best player in the club. Petracca responded everyone knows the only reason Oliver won the Brownlow was because I kept feeding him. Meanwhile the AA team was redrafted when it was pointed out that Max Gawns ruck technique of laying the ball down to Viney, Petracca and Oliver showed limited "ruck craft" despite his comments to the contrary. Umpire displeasure at his comments meant he did not get any Brownlow votes and was the main reason the Brownlow system was compromised. The O;iver Brownlow will be removed from any official records, The AFL will take action to modify the system to ensure Melbourne matches are no longer counted. We cannot have our most valuable marketing medal won by Melbourne players in the future. There was further controversy over the Coleman medal importance as it was ruled that a comprehensive review of video evidence showed that JVR had many goals paid  despite several incidents that should have resulted in his goal being ruled ineligble. IT would be better if these post incident realities had been identified earlier, but now they have been evidenced the Melbourne grand final victory will be removed from all official records. An unfortunate aside is that the Rising Star winner will now be transferred to another club possibly Richmond as he cannot be tarnished by the train wreck that is MFC.

Melbourne FC  is reported to being relocated to  a suburb of Darwin renamed Melbourne as soon as administrative processes are put in place. The club will have  ground space allocated there and their administrative operations will be run from Timor Leste. It is important that Caulfield and the racing industry are not affected by the apparent malaise of the MFC who will always be remembered as an important part football history although it now hoped that moving them as far away from Tasmania as possible will not affect the significance of this new club.

I always report accurately any story that I can make up when I can get paid.

About time we had a hegemony.

Clearly it's time for Whispering to post another historic article so there's something other than this done to death thread to focus on.

If You Say So What GIF by MOODMAN

There's a persistent group of Demonland acolytes trying to rewrite history by having a range of (mostly juvenile) digs at Tom Morris, Kane Cornes & other media to suggest all our problems were a media beat up & not the fault of a dysfunctional administration.

They are not fooling anyone. Media is still there while our CEO & Prez fell on their swords.

Hope thats not a shot at me Cranky. I accept the juvenile digs but its only coz its so easy as rumour after rumour was found to be nothing but a swipe at MFC. Petracca, Oliver, Kozzie the obvoius but also plenty of press focus on Melbourne when Collingwood, Carlton , GWS, Dogs, Tigers and Bombers all had much greater internal issues which received a lot less focus.

I wont step away from the dysfunctional administration.  I was pretty critical in the way the CEO, President etc handled particularly those above three matters, also Brayshaw and some of the treatment we received at the tribunal. I have quietened down my commentary on the training ground as I support the club but I am certainly still annoyed that no consideration for Fishermans Bend/Port Melbourne even as a negotiating factor and still dubious as to how Caulfield will turn out.

I was also critical of communication and the handling of the Deemocracy group, with eventual acceptance of 4 of the 5 processes before the expensive legal processes were completed.

Im certainly not trying to rewrite history and would hate to be seen as an acolyte coz im really more of an  agnostic.

As an existentialist I am happy to accept that there as many opinions in the room as there are people, and much more but as this test draws to its conclusion and with Tennis and Cycling still to come as the summer heat propels me to the pool I look forward eagerly to a massive season where the whole club contributes to a flag at the MCG.

"greater internal issues" at 6 other Clubs you say.

We had a drug suspension, a top player not attending pre season, legal action on 2 fronts then ended the season with our 2 best players seeking trades out.

Not sure any of those 6 Clubs got close to our disasters.

Which top player didn’t attend preseason?

Trac missed the B and F ( wisely) because he was training overseas.

So who missed preseason? I must have missed this with my cricket obsession.

Think he is talking about Clarry at a guess for missing a fair bit early in late 2023 before arriving in 2024 after Christmas period.
if it is it is not a valid point in the context of the season and Clarry’s program.

I don't think many were suggesting all our problems were a Media beat up. It would be more accurate to say many felt that the Media response was out of proportion to the actual problems encountered. Our problems, which were mostly similar to problems experienced by other AFL clubs and other administrators at various intervals, became the flavour of the day and the MFC was painted as a club with extremely poor culture. All of this was an exaggeration! Those that believe the Media simply reported the facts without any other agenda are particularly naive with regards to how the Media massages the truth to create an ongoing drama which draws a crowd!

Wayne - there is always an undercurrent of unease with any negative descriptions of the current performance of the players, team, FD, and admin.

There was plenty of jumping down throats on here that can just be avoided with just a tad more self-reflection and empathy.

The media is going to do what they have done, it doesn’t make the calls for change from some on here less pertinent now or then.
