NON-MFC: Preliminary Finals

Sydney are getting well beaten in the clearance, if they can at least break even, it’s game over.

Dominating clearances and contested possessions doesn’t seem to mean much these days

Umpires ear pieces getting a good work over tonight

Sydney play port last week… different result. They like twice as fresh as Port. The week off is a considerable advantage.

Grundy & Jordan having the last laugh

Both having quiet nights. Blakey.  Heeney. Gulden.  Too much run for port.

Port are the biggest pretenders. I can't see any other coach consistently getting this squad to Prelims, though. They just don't have enough X Factor to win a flag. Their F50 entries have been shocking. Hawthorn vs Sydney was always going to be a better contest.

Are Port being ghost coached by Goodwin 😉

Cheap shot, from a bloke looking for laughs!

So can someone tell me exactly what Bruce's role will be with ch7?

It's very special

Grundy is a habitual blocker and holder of the opposing ruck but only gets called a few times a match.

On my count in this third quarter he's given away four frees in rucking contests so far and none have been called.

I reckon he just got held himself at the throw in but they let it go because of this.

Grundy 7 touches 5 clangers

Jordon 7 touches 2 clangers. although keeping Butters a bit quiet

Keep trolling away.

JHF very good as a receiver but no so good at defending the loose player.

Talk about lazy on the two way.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
