I’d take Lindsay over Jagga Smith.

Pretty much everything Smith does is chaos, especially his kicking. Whereas Lindsay is a smooth mover with a very nice kick.

Is Lindsay a high priority now that we have Harry Sharp? Maybe not considering that a key forward might be available. That said, stocking up with A grade potential mids/runners is a reasonable strategy when the future of CO and CP5 is unclear. This is one of the biggest calls that JT will make in his time at the club, IMO.

Yes he is.

Sharp is no guarantee to even make it. As it stands he comes in as depth.

Lindsay is a high end talent who's got the skillset we're badly lacking and similar to Josh Kelly, can play both inside and out.

If Travaglia and Lindsay still there @ 9, who you taking? 

There is no way the Melbourne Football Club, who rates contest footy as much as anyone will be drafting Lindsay as high as 9 or what will become 11 or 12 - Chalk and Cheese - Travaglia v Lindsay.

Definitely. 

Can play half-back, wing and also has an inside game. Not going to say no to more of these types on the list. 

I think Xavier Lindsay is possibly still in the MFC mix at “9”… he’s elite skill and ability to play inside or outside mid might be a good compliment if we get a Langford at “5”.

God, I hope not, Lindsay is extremely vanilla to me. He's not a Houston / Gulden level user, doesn't win a heap of contested ball and doesn't stand out athletically. 

Feels like a St Kilda player.

We are in need of class finishing skilful ball players and have really enough inside bulls although Langford being a taller marking and goal kicking mid has those strings to his now rather like taller Trac and let’s face it a Bont Cripps clone. Who could refuse that in team aspiring to win a flag asap.? Jan

Going by their draft profiles neither Houstin or Gulden were thought to be great kicks at under age. Perhaps that’s why they went at 45&32 in their drafts. 

Lindsay's kicking is very good and will get better.

Fair point this. Houston was a vanilla hf flanker & Gulden a ‘death by a hundred cuts’ type of high hf or crumber.

 

Reportedly the club met with Lindsay late last week. Unsure of the nature of the meeting and potentially just likely some due diligence, though this accords the reported interest in Lindsay at Pick 9.

No stranger to the inside either and from what I've seen, very good work rate. I can see why people have their reservations I think there's plenty to work with there.

We are crying out for players who are elite kicks that can hit a player "lace out" with a pass.

Forward line "connection" is still a massive issue for the Demons.

What’s his 1-Wood? Speed? Kicking? Versatility?

Can he tackle well? Can he defend against other mids?

Is he quick enough to burst from a pack? Can he buy time to size up his options?

Can he mark overhead? He may need to start as a fwd/def.

My knowledge of this years draft is very poor. The above are genuine questions.

He’ll likely start and perhaps finish at half back, kicking and run are his strengths.

Hopefully he’s got enough speed and overhead to get by on a flank and of course midfield upside.

Don't think that's quite right - Gulden was tied to the swans via their academy.  We picked Bowey / Laurie (apparently wanted Holmes).  JT said to Goody (on the video MFC released) "we got the best 2 kicks in the draft".  What he meant was the "best 2 available kicks in the draft" as Gulden was known to be a bit of a freak with his ball use even at that age.  We would have picked him for sure if we could have.

Can’t say I followed him in his draft year but RMC seemed to think there was room for improvement in his kicking consistency and it was put down as an area he needed to improve on. 
Lindsay is probably rated as the best kick in this draft or at least top 5.

He will also go much earlier than Houston and Gulden. He’s ball use an excellent. 
 

Twomey's late mail has us tossing up between Allan and Lindsay. Both look pretty good
