There’s not that much to keep OD 🤣. Haven’t seen you around this place for a while…I trust you’ve been keeping well.

You are better off no matter with the money hardtack. Believe me a month after not buying a membership the pain will be the same and you will have spent it on something way more enjoyable. Buy $100 of chocolate and $100 good coffee. You can enjoy both together for the next 100 days.

I have a MCC/MFC membership and have just renewed. 63 consecutive years as a MFC member. Seen a lot of highs and a lot of lows but it's my club. I feel for those with families and other committments that are making them question wether to renew. Those running the club really need to have a long hard look as to where the club is heading. Big reality check is needed NOW.

Voting by withholding dollars is short sighted. It might also be more effective that you’d like it to be. See post above.

Again off topic, good result for you yesterday at the heath.

Contact the club via email and air your thoughts. Every time I have done so I have been contacted and the complaint discussed. The last time was after that disaster of sending Trac back onto the ground when he was clearly very distressed. IMO that was the low point of this season.

I'm on auto renew , which I think comes up in October, so yeah I'm in.

However, the only positive I'm expecting next year is more day games - which are a lot easier for me to attend.

( At this stage I'm not certain I'll be enjoying the results though )

Spot on Bbo night games are a nightmare for me too. Might be good for sponsors etc but not me.

I'll continue my AFL membership with MFC club support but was just discussing this today with my family at father's day lunch. My dad was considering cancelling the AFL membership and getting an MFC membership only. I told him he's better off keeping the AFL membership (as gets you better/cheaper access to finals tickets) but adding on MFC reserved seats. AFL membership is good but when you're an MFC supporter it feels like every game is an away game, even when we play interstate sides.

Gonna have to look into how much this would all cost and where we could get reserved MFC seats, I currently pay for AFL memberships for my 2 kids and as well and one of them doesn't really like attending games but I've kept him on the waitlist for full AFL membership in case that changes when he's a bit older. If we can get reserved seats in the northern stand level 1 right next to the MCC I'll consider it but if it's in the southern stand there's no point, could probably just rock up and sit in those seats anyway.

Been an MFC membership since 1989 and won't stop now. I'll probably buy MFC kids memberships for my nephews next time they have one of those $30 deals (like they did when Kozzie and Kolt re-signed). They're pretty young but interested in coming to a game (their parents aren't into footy) so could be an opportunity to rope them in.

Bribery with chips , pies and a day out with the Uncle worked for my nephews….providing they barracked for the Dees, as that was the only game we were going to go to.

For those thinking of not renewing their membership for whatever reason (as well as those who plan to renew), please consider an AFLW membership…

$60 per year includes entry to all matches, a tote-bag, stickers, drink bottle etc., the occasional handwritten thank you from a player, and most importantly, you’ll be helping our girls who are very deserving of our support. Moreover, they’re very appreciative of our support.

This year I was a Reserved Seats member for the second season. It was a joke. 9 games I had to kick people out of our seats, and each week I was surrounded by different people, and quite often they were opposition supporters.

I wrote to the club 3 times about it and they said they’d notify the MCG staff. It never got better. I saw so many people just wonder in and sit wherever they wanted. I realise to an extent it’s not the clubs fault, but if nobody is protecting the value of our memberships then it makes it next to impossible to justify paying for them. I know of 20 members in our section, and we all said we’d never pay for the reserved seats again. That seems like such a shame.

What membership package or was it reserved seating attached to the general membership.

Which bay is your reserved seat in?

We have had seats in M50 for well over a decade. We are always surrounded by the same people more or less.

I do tell security frequently to remove people who are opposition fans from the area, and they do. They're very slack however with checking who is going into the bay unless the game is a sell out.

I got 20+ Pies fans kicked out in Round 24 and have spoken to the club previously about asking the MCC to provide better security for home games versus Pies for this exact reason.

We are Demons Seats Plus Undercover in M55. I need the cover for my folks as they are older. Everyone in our area was so annoyed every game. We pay $580 a year, but we won’t again because we know that for the cost of a standard $200 or so membership we can rock up 90% of the time and sit wherever.

The club is very aware of all of our frustration, and have done absolutely nothing about it - which I understand is difficult, but if they aren’t protecting the value of our spend they are the ones who’ll miss out next year.

After the first loss to Fremantle, I cancelled the auto renewal.  And suggested I was a little bit aggrieved.  I will renew but later. It’s more a donation as I rarely get to see games live. Sometimes 1 , sometimes 4 for the year. Glad things are more stable st the moment, no MFC news sometimes is good news,

Yeah I live in Regional Victoria and my girls are between 5-12, all have heaps of sporting commitments and none like AFL. I buy a membership each year for me and my oldest. First year of not attending a single game.

Never felt more disconnected with the club. Never get a call from them or anything, it’s just a cash donation.

I am financially secure. I place loyalty above most things, my brother and myself are a player sponsor. I am a Demon for life. If I was not going to renew because of club turmoil it would have happened decades ago. Things can turn around quickly (see 2021) I was at the 1964 GF as a child and I was hoping I might get to see another Premiership in person before my inevitable demise 🤞🏻
Stick with the club if you’re able. The night is darkest before the dawn.  Go Dee’s 🔴🔵

Come October I’ll definitely be renewing the membership of this precious little girl…

I signed her up a few months ago and she was born four hours ago.

She’s my granddaughter. 💕

Did the quick maths on the MCC/MFC fee divided by the number of MCG games we play. Works out to nearly $70 a game. As someone who takes no interest in cricket, it's not great value.

I'm doing it, but it's starting to feel like a wild extravagance.

What are they going to call you about?

Seriously it’s not an aged care provider.

Sorry you feel this way but maybe they should ring and ask  why you are not attending?

I am disappointed with our style of footy that we have slipped back playing ( totally blame Goody and the coaches for that).

But  it’s still the Club I love and have supported for 66 years. We have still some generational players and Club Champs and I don’t think  our window is closed providing some good recruitment and game style is planned this off season plus no real stars getting injured again then we can still challenge with some of our younger players developing also.

Nothoughts of altering my winter plans and will be as invested as usual for the trade AFLW and preseason action. Tickets as normal and bring it on!!

In fairness, the club felt like a family 10 years ago when we were [censored]. Everyone was accessible. Now we are just bums/dollars in seats. The club couldn't care if we ain't there next year.

I'm trident, and my main complaint is the mcg has replaced our bar where we can view the game with a stupid fox tv studio they use for 4 minutes a game.

I'll be renewing my two Redleg memberships and hoping for more day games.

A delightful part of day games is a little 4 yo named Atticus who sits nearby.  Little Atticus and I hi-5 every goal and when we win (we always do when he goes) he stands on the seat and belts out A Grand Old Flag as loud as his little lungs allow.  All the while he is dancing just like in 'Happy Feet'.  He is a joy to behold.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
