Give me the updates. You keep me in the loop I’ll put you in charge of the reporters

I’m already in charge of the reporters.

Incidentally, have you seen the reporters? A motley bunch indeed, so it’s not something I’d put on my CV.

Imagine an announcement that Kozzie is extending his contract! That would be incredibly cool. I’m not an I told you so type but geez it’ll be hard to hold back when this happens 😅

would be the most celebrated “ I told you so” in demonland history.

They may or may not look much but they’re elite by every metric.

Really? I've lost my trust of all sports journos now.

Only just now? 😮

Just my thoughts but after reading through this thread there are some very logical reasons to believe that Kozzie is already home. Kozzie’s spiritual home maybe in rural WA but like so many Australians we were drawn to the “big smoke” from our country birthplaces by necessity and reward and now call Melbourne home.

My home is a mix between the sandy cliff tops of Red Bluff, sandbelt golf courses, 13th Beach, Golden Point at Hotham, The Pass at Byron and Mont Ventoux.

I live in the Northern Rivers so it makes it hard 😂

Who says he wants to be a Docker? There’s some who believe that and you could just as easily write a story headlined “Koz loves the Dee’s and staying put for the foreseeable future”

Ryan Daniels saying that Freo have basically dropped out of the race. Don’t have the cap space to match the $1.2mil we’re offering.

They could offload someone like Darcy to get the space but I don’t see it happening. Kozzy staying

where's daniels said this?

he's been hot-to-trot that flagmantle can make the deal happen without giving up dogga (which seems unlikely to me)

My take: as long as Goodwin is at the MFC, Kozzy will be too. We’ll hear the murmuring of homesickness every year, because it will be true and he’s been open about that. But the club, and specifically the coach, will give him the support, the space and the visits home he requires to manage it.

Absolutely true. Kozzie will stay with us for multiple reasons but a huge part of it is his incredibly close bond with Goody.

That's interesting.

He is actually someone who is got a very good strike rate and one of the more respected journo's going around for the folks out there that have zero trust in journalists.

Loves the club ! Never going anywhere ! (except if he wasn't going to be paid an extra 400-500 thousand a season)

He's worth it is he not? Well he is imo. TDK prob loves the blues too but not if it costs him a million a year to stay there.

keep koz, get dogga back, win 2026 premiership

Edited by whatwhat say what

I'm ok with $1.2 for five years. (This seems to be the "new million")

A little wary for obvious reasons about contract lengths beyond 5 years

Thats a laughable excuse. Any club would find the cap space required for a player like Kozzie if he a) wanted to play for them b) the had the picks and players to enable a deal.

I haven’t read the article but I suspect Ralph is saying something similar to Daniels - we are going to offer him enough money to convince him to stay, or something like that.

A bit of a joke... Freo not willing to pay the dollars or give up the player.

Now the media can move onto Harley R

PS: I'd almost be happy if LJ moved to Geelong.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
