The old bloke AJ is 23.

He's 25 actually so at least if you are going to have a dip, get it right.

Perhaps mature aged recruit would suit better?

Pickets manager is the same as Bolton’s, who also denied that Bolton was requesting a trade up until the very moment Richmond made it official that he had requested a trade. I won’t buy any talk from him.

That’s the way that it worked up until now. But it may be that the Pandoras Box has opened with Allen and Sam Mitchell getting outed in public.

Don’t blame the agents this is what the AFL would like still.

I don’t think Viney had one positive possession, not one, he was actually a total liability. Clarry wasn’t too much better. Tracc again was poor with his disposal but slightly better than the other two.

Viney has been a great MFC person. However he has been poorly coached for a greater part of it. Now is the time to be a role player. One thing I’m certain of is ticking to Gawn gives a mid , x amounts of kicks where the mid has time to hit a target.

Buckley proposed an alternative reading of what they were trying to do: basically, move the ball as quickly as possible, eliminate/bypass the intermediate handball. Not saying it's working for the moment, but there are always 2 sides. At least.

Up until the first side is proved selfish and untenable for goal scoring.

The second side of the story should be introduced for 3:/ 4 matches and I’d not successful with wins and greater goals then Goody should be thanked lauded and John Longmire appointed immediately. Either way ability to bring in new assistants and whatever required to get the place moving again.

Let’s do something from left field and don’t waste the year as we won’t have any players supporters or hope if the change is not made.

Any player who resists team instructions is out and cleared at the end of the season.

And what about appointing a proper six player leadership team. Our current arrangement is spineless and should have had publicly known meetings to solve the friction and team disharmony that is there.

Teams can’t go from where we have and be happy. And it’s clear that confusion and frustration are rife among the natives.

Selection is a joke also and if any one suggests that all is well and the place will blow up if Goody is replaced then go out in sympathy with him please.

Nothing really successful has happened in 2023 since the finals started. It has been steadily down hill and the stubbornness of the FD and Coaches is mostly responsible.

we need a more positive attitude and game plan to attract players and fans alike. Don’t don’t is at our peril and we will go back to 2007 to 2014 as a Club.

JVR should never ruck again, what a dumb thing to do to the poor kid, it has really stifled him.

Petracca story sounds like a positive, can't read it though without a subscription but I get the jist...Kozzie who knows, would love him to stay though!

Just get JVR out of the ruck, AJ to ruck he looked decent in the first game and get Jeffo in there too...funnily enough our first game looked a lot better than all the ones that followed...interesting that, we kind of had some actual forwards even though they were not veterans.

Well, I can tell you there are plenty of players who we’ve approached in recent times only to be rebuffed due to our style of play amongst other reasons.

[censored] hell. That's disastrous.

No idea what Kosi is currently on but we can’t afford to lose him. Is he really homesick? Anyone willing to renegotiate their contract in order to put a better offer fwd.

Jeez i hope this wasn't a one off game against Freo a club who are after his services.

Hope this form continues for the rest of the year and we place a big contract in front of him and Kozzie accepts.

Why would he want to go to Fremantle and be coached by J.Longmuire? has to be the most uninspiring coach going around.

Greenie now asking for 4 first round picks.

He was pumped after the win today!

Redo his contract with a big front end offer with a couple of years extra and put it to him that if he wants the bigger coin over the next 2 years this is where he will find it. Or wait until 2028 is up and then go to Freo. No one, especially someone with a young family, wants to wait 2 or 3 years more for the big pay day. Trading him is a ridiculous idea.

Sorted.

there's actually no need to think about it as yet

his daughter is several years away from starting school; i would imagine that if he is to move state, it will be before she starts education journey

100% agree with this.

We must have salary cap room for sure since we lost Brayshaw and Joel Smith. The salary cap also increased recently and we haven't recruited anyone via trade of AAA quality (no offence meant) since the flag.

I'd bump his pay right up for 26 and 27 if he agrees to extend. I'd also consider out of the box ideas like recruiting Isaiah Dudley (his cousin I believe), we need another small forward. Would Michael Walters be interested in a forward coaching role or on field coaching role for a year before transitioning into coaching? He is very close with Kozi too. Let's throw everything at Kozi..!!! I have no idea if these things are possible but throwing ideas out there.

We must try everything to keep him and only if all options are exhausted do we trade him for the right offer!

We're on the hook for a lot of Brayshaw's salary.

Under current rules, 90 per cent of Brayshaw’s 2024 payment is outside the club’s total player payments, with 75 per cent in 2025 and 50 per cent in 2026. But the fact he was contracted until 2028 means the full amount of what could be a heavily back-ended contract must also be included in the salary cap in 2027 and 2028.

We missed a trick not drafting Dudley ourselves, definitely could've turned the tide a bit, asleep at the wheel there, a role for him in the side too he's no slouch

Time to stop being so nice and get ruthless: Koz, you’re our most valuable asset and under contract, absolutely no trade unless it’s the most generous coming back our way in AFL history

Yep my kids were going nuts for Kozzy yesterday, that was the loudest they've ever been at a game. It helps when the kids have plenty to cheer for, they want the quick play and goals they don't appreciate the defensive stuff so much as it's not as exciting for them.

Kozzie is contracted to the club until the end of 2027

We either hold him to his contract (preferred option) or another club will have to offer a King's ransom for his services

It's a win/win although I'd hate to lose him as he's a genuine matchwinner

Urgh, l really hate this.

We’re moving towards a style of play that suits Kozzie more than any other player on our list and he’s coming into his prime.

Well, technically, we've got him for at least another 72 games (that includes 9 finals games 😁)

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
