My two bobs' worth: it's great. He is fantastic to watch, incredible ability to get out of trouble cleanly, galvanises the team, can turn a game.

And if it means we get a few more Picketts over the years, that's got to be a good thing.

Great news. Still amazing he's only 23. Feel's like he's been around a lot longer.

Are if someone like Fred does try a raid at some point (Certainly possible at some point int he next 9 years) we can set terms.

Wonderful highlights, but do not unmute unless you are a fan of cheesy, crappy background music.

Gotta leave it on, though, for the unbridled superlativing* in the commentary! 😄

Steve said it would be announced this morning. What do you reckon of that @dazzledavey36 ?

I have no doubt the contract was signed yesterday in private and then announcement this morning. Every journo around the country yesterday were pretty saying it was a done deal, just waiting for the announcement on an official capacity.

Even the statement released by Green and Tim Lamb. That isn't a spur of the moment thing that was created this moment, these would have been carefully drafted yesterday.

It's all about timing and the MFC have timed this beautifully well.

On that money & deal I'm expecting him now to step up more & he must be kicking at least a couple of goals each week & his defensive pressure has to get better.

That has improved over the past few weeks but at times he still jogs around & can look for the easy handball over the top.

However now I'm just glad the trade speculation will stop.

Hope he has a ripping game this week.

He’s averaging 2.1 gpg this year which is rated elite, also elite for tackles i50, marks i50, centre clearances, one percenters and score involvements.

Comments from other club supporters saying we were played and overpaid, only thing for certain is he signed.

Its a beautiful day, now to win this weekend.

Fredmantle.

Maybe one year too long?

Should only need eight to overtake D.Neitz and N.Jones.

😉

With increasing salary caps, like the signing of Franklin by the swan discounts the real value of the big contracts signed now over their life.

Yeah [censored] off, Fred! Keep your grubby paws off our Kozzie!

PS: who’s Fred?

The Demon Shop sells jumper numbers and they have an industrial press (a household iron isn’t hot enough). They charge $13 per numeral.

Best to call them before heading in because they don’t have every number in stock at all times.

Well called yesterday GW.👍😁

Ha ha!

When I clicked on this thread, I was taken to the last page I looked at:

February 15, P. 48.

So much doom and gloom, no wonder I hadn’t visited this thread since.

And the season hadn’t even started. I often wonder if the perpetual nay sayers are just visiting to stir up trouble, or they have a nasty case of MFCSS??

Let’s toast to a long and distinguished career 🥂

Yeah!

What a [censored]!

Always has been.

(I thought he was a list manager for a sec!!)

Who’ll be the first overpaid footy commentator to say we "paid overs"? Barrett? Kane?

Probably the same goose who would’ve lost his mind if we’d let him go to Freo.

Well, that does cheer me up.

Realistically Pickett is one of the all-time greats of the 'small forward who slides through the midfield' role that has become crucial in the contemporary game.

This contract is also an emphatic reminder that there is life after this season and something to look forward to.

Now we can also begin to really enjoy watching the All-Australian match-up, which is currently

Pickett in the smalle forward plus midfield role doesn't have any close rivals for performance.

Jamie Elliot and Jack Higgins are the 'small forward only' competitors.

Pleasingly, Toby Greene is not on the pace this season, and even tiktok is starting to think Nick Watson is a bit overrated. I have no reason to mention Watson except to mention he is not worth mentioning.

There will be plenty of 36s going on the back of jumpers, my son included.

I told him to hold off earlier this year now he'll go through at least 3 more sizes during kozzys contract

Here you go. It’s little Ralphy 🙄

Maynard just signed on for four more years.

If that [censored] stain is worth 4, Kosi is worth 400

It is time to get used to long contracts. They are going to be the norm for established players and young stars. They’re even the norm for bog ordinary snippers 🙄

It’s so funny. Is the idea Fremantle faked their interest so Melbourne would pay 200k a year more on an extensions they were going to offer anyway?

Reality. Freo and west coast tried. The dees flexed and blew them totally out of the water.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
