But my only question, and I'd appreciate if it could be answered respectfully without being gaslit or accused of not watching/knowing anything about the game, is if the idea of the deal is to protect our bargaining power in future trades then why would it be a terrible idea to exercise this right now with 2 years left on his current contract and make this offer in 12 months time? Is it a case of his price only going up? Being super proactive and striking while the iron is hot?

There are a number of reasons

1- When he has only 1 year left on his contract (next year), we have a lot less leverage

2- Signing him now allows us to plan our cap for the future and know what money we have to offer any free agent or player we would like to chase in the trade period. You'd hate to overpay some B grader from another club only to then not have the money to keep a generational talent like Kosi later on. Also allows us to put extensions to the likes of Lindsay, Langford, Bowey etc.

3- Securing Kosi gives other players we might be chasing the security that we have someone of his quality on our list for the next decade. It makes us a more competitive side, AND it puts to bed a lot of noise around our culture etc. If players of his ilk want to be at the club, it says a lot about the club itself. Don't underestimate how much the Trac debacle last year cost us at the trade table!

4- You strike while the iron is hot. Kosi is obviously happy, loving his footy and playing great. He was willing to talk so you talk. Plus imagine if we wait until next year, the way he's headed he would be worth even more money!

Flogmantle gonna be mad... 🤣

KOZZIE... IS...HOME

❤️💙

Just like a premiership, Kos is never coming to Fremantle.

Eat [censored] Dockers!

Whilst some might not like the length, you can’t argue the money and just imagine how you’d feel if he was playing at Fremantle next year or the year after. Sit in that pool of sludge for a moment. Personally I think it’s a powerful statement by the club and Kozz. All power to them!

Massive MASSIVE credit to our club, that everyone loves to pot and tell you has the worst culture.

We have gone above and beyond to make Kosi and his family feel embraced, loved and and looked after.

This contract is a testament to their unwavering support of Kosi from day one, most especially Goody!

Just once, try and have a good day as a Melbourne supporter who just secured the signature of one of the hottest players in the game.
