Are Pert and Roffey really responsible for any of our issues? I would say no.

Roffey has kept a closed shop since taking charge, but had we done what the previous guy wanted, we might not have won the flag in 2021.

Leadership is an enabler (or disabler) of culture; Roffey and Pert are absolutely correlated with the current climate. At the very least, even if they are not the causative reason for our issues, they are an enabling reason.

    I think people need to calm the farm a bit.

    Roffey spoke poorly & should resign, but getting rid of her does not solve club culture, we won't start playing electric football again, she isn't responsible for our terrible recruiting, nor off field antics of players, Petracca won't stay if she leaves either, we have bigger issues throughout. It doesn't just end with her gone, we need a whole club clean out/direction and buy in.

    I dare say the president of the club will solve some culture. That person will have a direct affect on everything

    I'd love PJ to do an external review. He's one of only two at the Dee's (admin) that I've had full faith in. He's so strong on good governance - it's exactly what we need. But, keep in mind he's retired, so you can put a line through him for Pert's job. I'm more than happy for him to replace Roffey though if he didn't do the review!

    I think CEOs are actually the main driver of culture.  They manage every department.  They need an aligned board. If you get a great playing group and everything goes right you can win a flag, but without an aligned board and CEO who are strong on culture success is inevitably fleeting. 

    Brian Cook is the best CEO in the business.  This is a really long watch but really great video about his thoughts, culture, and alignment.

    He totally sorted out West Coast from 1990-1998. Geelong's current era started with him becoming the CEO in 1999.  He had a lot of issues to deal with during that time with a rebuild, player behaviour, coaches etc but stuck to his philosophy around culture. Geelong's outstanding culture over the past 20+ years was not driven by Bomber Thompson!

    I'm a bit worried about Carlton now that he is there.  I preferred the 8 years prior when they never played finals.

    I think her immediately stepping aside would at least show some accountability for what has gone on this last 18 months and would signal to Petracca and others things are been taken seriously

    This. Love my club but I have always felt that was shameful......and I'm not easily shamed.

    Need more than her, like I mentioned, she is not responsible for all of the other issues. Petracca is gone, and I'd doubt Roffey is why.

    As for a trade, until we know who he wants to go to, it's just a guess. Have we ever seen a MEGA trade?

    It's absolutely extraordinary if the clubs president hasn't been keeping in contact with Petracca and his family following life threatening injuries.

    It's looking like the club he wants to go to, has absolutely no trade capital, as openly discussed by said club's coach on radio.

    FFS this is amateur hour.

    If you’re going to do an interview, representing the club in a time of (perceived or real, take your pick) turmoil, you don’t add to the turmoil by not having all your ducks in a row and being consistent in answering very straightforward questions. 

    Does anybody have their hands on the steering wheel?

    One of the worst interviews I have ever heard from a Melbourne Football Club President in a very long time and I have been a member since 1998.

    That was embarrassing and Kate Roffey was ill prepared to give that interview. 

    As harsh as it sounds, but that is unacceptable as a President of an AFL Club. No wonder Christian Petracca is upset.

    I am incredibly furious now at this disastrous situation! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

    Isn't replacing the President and board where you start if we are to seek change? They set the direction of the club, they're the ones who can call for a review and set the parameters of such a process. They're the ones to intervene if something goes wrong that can't be adequately resolved at the lower levels. On the Petracca issue the Coach, CEO, President and Footy boss are all marching to the beat of the same drum which implies a level of complacency across all the leadership positions that has lead us to this point.

    If someone in a leadership position within an organisation were to be questioned about their organisation and responded with the same level of unpreparedness and lack of understanding about the most critical issue facing their organisation as what I have just witnessed, they would be immediately dismissed.

    It is not just one issue they are responsible for; they are at the top of the chain and accountable for overseeing all major aspects of the organization. Such poor answers to the line of questioning today would be unacceptable in any professional setting, and the consequences would be swift and severe.

    God, I really hope Trac wasn't listening. If he was, he might already have his bags packed, or he’ll be rushing to do so any minute now. And he won’t be the only one, others on the team will probably be digging through their cupboards, reaching for their suitcases on the high shelf, and considering their options.

That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

      Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four.       For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

      The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
