Love it. The Great and the Good will decide what is good for us. We weren't even having an external review (or two) a month ago. Then a light was shone on the place and (blink of the eye) the President departed. No need to share anything with the members. It's all going swimmingly.

Relax - the remaining Board members have it all under control.

“The reviews of both the AFL program and the Board will be completed in October and the priorities identified will be communicated to our members.”

It’s still September, untwist your knickers.

I'll stand down. But a random question: if it was proven that someone was being paid to post on this site, would that be in contravention of the forum rules? It's a bit blurry, but I see that under Demonland's guidelines an unauthorised advertisement could cop a $1,000 bill in the mail. Is that per post?

I’ll happily admit I get paid to post. However as you all know when reading my posts it’s worth every dollar.
On this topic I think it’s fair to reason that our club has not been as professional as we would have hoped. I’d suggest that a Premiership helped mask a series of internal issues that need sunlight and solving. Looks like egos at dawn to me.

Don't be ridiculous! Do you think we have the attention spans of goldfish?

Kate Roffey left for one reason only: because she unfortunately made a complete mess of an interview. We are starting to see progress on the key, and extremely difficult, issue of a home base. She oversaw two premierships and multiple top four seasons. Now get off your Lawrence bike and come clean about your agenda.

Ollie, you have just given Hawk another opportunity to respond. While he has every right to express his opinion on here-  no matter how annoying- we are only encouraging him by responding. It’s click bait, treat it as such.

That is a complete mis-take of what happened I would suggest.

To put it another way, if messing up an interview were the one reason only that she left then we really do have a problem at board level.

You're kidding? You seriously think Roffey left because of a bad radio interview?

Yeah nah.

Factually incorrect and a completely made up from your end.

There are reasons why she left, this wasn't one of them.

I said I would stand down. But that was kind of an invitation to someone else to also stand down before they got fully exposed. But they keep posting, maybe because it's profitable.

Some questions:

Does anyone see some similarities between the board challenges at Richmond circa 2016 and the recent Hawthorn one and now ours? Very similar m/o and language. Maybe refined from back in the unorthodox Don Scott anti-merger days?

Why would Peter spend an estimated $1 million on a campaign to become an unpaid board member from his own pocket? Rich people are rich for being sensible with their money. So just for the love of the club?

I won't use the word stooge.

The crazy thing, Hawthorn had Dingley and now we have Caulfield when these challenges come up, and I think Richmond might have had $60 million in Punt Rd. redevelopment funds at the time of their challenge.

It's just such a bizarre coincidence.

Even more crazy, each of these clubs were undermined with a lot of dirt in the media beforehand. Poor Fagan.

It would be an especially bizarre coincidence if one of our fans on here had a father who was connected to every one of those board challenges in recent years, in some cases openly. And was also involved in state politics.

I'm taking a snap-shot of this post. I don't think it breaches any Demonland rules, but may get deleted. If so pm me, or if my account is erased you can ask around for my email address.

In what way 🤔.

i am in no way a Lawrence fan (the way he has gone about it……….wow), but equally the way the leaders of our club (coach, pres, ceo, heck even players) have gone about it talking about not becoming complacent, yet look what’s happened……..equally wow.

What if some of the way of your understanding of the club had been planted in the media? We had a bad year, sure. Amid our most successful in half a century. Would you be happy if the club you support was being torn apart by much bigger outside forces due to just money, and you were part of that because you were [censored] at Simon or whatever?

The media? Ha, they had it in for us when we were horrific, nothing has changed in that regard (couldn’t care less what the media thought of us).

As for me being “part of the tearing apart of our club because I was upset”…….please. I have supported this club and been a member for 30+ years and will remain so long after Goodwin and all current leaders have long departed.

A lot of the mess we find ourselves in has been due to much of our own doing. For the club to improve as best it can, our ‘review’ needs to be as external as possible, as we have demonstrated that we are incapable of conducting an internal review without egos getting in the way - personal agendas are being put before the clubs best interests imv.

Why Pert and Richardson are part of the team conducting the review, when their own departments are needing scrutiny is farcical.

Question is what exactly will the external revue from All Blacks Darren Shane reveal, how are external reviews structured, what is their purpose? Is it culture, operations, training, player & coaching behaviours, how deep is it & will their be fallout of personal changes?

A good question, to which we’ll never truly know the answers to if the findings are kept in-house (part of me thinks they should be, but if we want to be fully transparent……..)

The scope would have been determined before the review began. I don't expect the full review itself will be revealed publicly. It's not really how these things are done. I would hope we get told the exact scope and a summary of the findings and actionables they come up with though.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
