FFS this is amateur hour.

If you’re going to do an interview, representing the club in a time of (perceived or real, take your pick) turmoil, you don’t add to the turmoil by not having all your ducks in a row and being consistent in answering very straightforward questions. 

Does anybody have their hands on the steering wheel?

One of the worst interviews I have ever heard from a Melbourne Football Club President in a very long time and I have been a member since 1998.

That was embarrassing and Kate Roffey was ill prepared to give that interview. 

As harsh as it sounds, but that is unacceptable as a President of an AFL Club. No wonder Christian Petracca is upset.

I am incredibly furious now at this disastrous situation! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Isn't replacing the President and board where you start if we are to seek change? They set the direction of the club, they're the ones who can call for a review and set the parameters of such a process. They're the ones to intervene if something goes wrong that can't be adequately resolved at the lower levels. On the Petracca issue the Coach, CEO, President and Footy boss are all marching to the beat of the same drum which implies a level of complacency across all the leadership positions that has lead us to this point.

Brian Cook is the best CEO in the business.  This is a really long watch but really great video about his thoughts, culture, and alignment.

He totally sorted out West Coast from 1990-1998. Geelong's current era started with him becoming the CEO in 1999.  He had a lot of issues to deal with during that time with a rebuild, player behaviour, coaches etc but stuck to his philosophy around culture. Geelong's outstanding culture over the past 20+ years was not driven by Bomber Thompson!

I'm a bit worried about Carlton now that he is there.  I preferred the 8 years prior when they never played finals.

If someone in a leadership position within an organisation were to be questioned about their organisation and responded with the same level of unpreparedness and lack of understanding about the most critical issue facing their organisation as what I have just witnessed, they would be immediately dismissed.

It is not just one issue they are responsible for; they are at the top of the chain and accountable for overseeing all major aspects of the organization. Such poor answers to the line of questioning today would be unacceptable in any professional setting, and the consequences would be swift and severe.

God, I really hope Trac wasn't listening. If he was, he might already have his bags packed, or he’ll be rushing to do so any minute now. And he won’t be the only one, others on the team will probably be digging through their cupboards, reaching for their suitcases on the high shelf, and considering their options.

I’m certainly not necessarily supporting the President’s handling of the interview, but the last time I looked she wasn’t responsible for the deplorable goal kicking this year, and if some players, including Trac. had better accuracy she may not have to be defending the culture at the club

Not sure if already mentioned but from the little I’ve heard / read Roffey did a great impression of Kimberly Cheadle at her congress hearing. She subsequently resigned shortly afterwards.

I know that this has slipped everyone’s mind SFebes but are we or are we not in the middle of negotiations for The Caulfield Training Ground option with AFL, Gleneira Council, etc. how does everyone think this May end up if we sack Kate, Gary, the Board and the Footy Department. Just asking for 65,000 paid up supporters??

Actually, we're rated ok in terms of goal kicking this year.

We're rated 8th for accuracy, above average for score rated against difficulty, 3rd best in the league for set shot scoring rated against difficulty, and 9th for general play shots on goal rated against difficulty.

Of course, goal kicking and club culture (among other issues) are completely different things and have no connection at all. 

Also, I don't believe anyone has put the blame for the myriad of club problems solely on Roffey, but her performance today, both in manner and information, was so far below standard that she is the current focus.

Take your point , but what do we mere supporters know about any negotiations.

In 8 years ( even longer) we’ve been fed quite a number of apparent solutions to a city linked training ground and social club.

The MRC Board are potentially about to be spilled, with the two main drivers of this project either already gone or on the way out the door, and the council don't wish to engage with our president directly.

I'm not sure it would harm the project if we're being honest.

Given the Petracca issue, as well as a number of others, for a considerable period, any "leader" would have known what the agenda would be during an interview, to which she was invited to and clearly accepted.

I can think of no other club president, which would handle an interview in such a shocking way.  Roffey should not have been surprised at the questions asked of her and for a senior person, she should have been far better prepared.

I don't know details I'm sorry. I appreciate that isn't helpful and doesn't add credibility, but you may have noticed there's been multiple posters with the same information recently so it seems word has gotten around.

I thought the council had bugger all say in this, which is why they've cracked it. I don't think it's specifically directed at us, rather that they aren't part of the process and calling the shots.

I'm not sure, sorry. I'm not an insider or anything of the like by any stretch at all and don't know about the ins and outs of the negotiations or who has the say. I had just had it told to me that the parties involved didn't wish to deal with Roffey. I didn't rush off to tell people that, but once I saw a couple of others here mentioning similar things I thought I would back it up, at least for my small part.

It certainly seems things are as messy, if not worse, with the MRC board as it stands.
