I love the kid's composure. It really stands out in a side full of headless chickens.

100% agree, takes that split second to assess and choose the right option with the skill to execute. We only have about 4 of those players in our current team

Crazy impressive talent. I'm just as bullish on Lindsay as well. These two are going to be a pleasure to watch for the next 15 years.

Generally agree, except that at this point Langford has better composure in front of goal and The Bison 🦬 is more of a physical brute.

I mentioned to another.. that particular goal from 50.. had the confidence, the composure and he can kick.

With great aplomb sized it up... bang. Sublime stuff.

Also to get us out of a tight spot on the members side back pocket onto the wing in that last quarter.

Don't they have Foxtel in Heaven? If not I'd complain to the manager.

Unfortunately, they only show St Kilda games, although perversely they did show the last St Kilda Melbourne match from this year. Apparently they took almost fiendish delight in seeing the Demons get beaten.

Don't understand the faff about the Rising Star award. You can get nominated by playing one really good game a year I think? It looks like a vehicle to advertise NAB more than anything.

That's it! We're all going to Hell!

Maybe he is going the other way ⬇️?

Langford v Pies

74% time on ground

26 possessions

1 goal (from right on 50 with one step and bang!!)

92% disposal efficiency

7 marks

7 score involvements

665 metres gained

Dees best first year player 2025

Hope he gets some Brownlow votes for last night and high up in this weeks coaches votes

He is our rising star

Disciples should not think about warmth

It's a shame that some of the more detailed stats like metres gained and score involvements don't got back a long way in the publicly available records like Footywire.

Got a little bit of a Fyfe vibe and it would be great to compare. Langford is much better looking and has the bison shoulders and haircut, but many of the available stats are quite similar.

One thing that sits nicely with a Fyfe comparison is the way Fyfe's second season worked out. Good games pretty much every week, but then mixed in with that were four BOG 3-vote brownlow games which were genuinely powerful.

I can see that being Langford's early growth path; never slouching, and sometimes just putting together a totally dominant game foreshadowing more to come.

Langford's style and toolset is as perfect for the current game as Fyfe's was for the 2010s.

He's Goldilocks!

Please don't go there. That whole debacle was depressing and embarrassing (and if social media were representative of the general public we have a lot of sad, hateful, ignorant people out there.)

Go most brownlow votes for Melbourne. I got $100-1 on Oliver in his 2nd year and that worked out well for me

mclusky for half time show?

Fine. But do they have half-time in Hell? (Hehe .... Half-Time In Hell sounds like a good band name.)

What I loved about last night, and there was a lot to love, was that clutch contested mark at half back. The pressure was ratcheting up at that moment in the game, and he stepped up and took a contested mark when we really needed it. It was very Bontempelli.

Fixed 😉

Must be a rare occurrence on Dland .... nearly everyone in agreement...

This kid can play 👍

The only other time I can remember when everyone was in agreement was with Neeld and thank goodness they are for the opposite reasons

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
