New assistant coaches at the Demons?

Recommended Posts

I am assuming it’s all tied to the FD Review, hopefully that will be completed and findings discussed before the end of October. Best to have coaching roles sorted and in place prior to the national draft, we may already have coaches ready to roll out. The leaks have been plugged so who knows. I drove past the other day and didn’t notice any smoke.

Don't assume we all share your jaundiced views.

Are you sure most Supporters are like you No!  my prognosis is very simple the result of the Review will tell all if he stays or goes.

That rules us out then

Not really it has to be announced by the club, ours or another, Bassett can’t announce it.!!

I actually do appreciate your spirit of accountability Hawk The Demon, though I do sometimes wish you wouldn't take it to every single thread if I'm being honest, however in this case I think you're being a bit unfair.

From what I understand; both reviews have now been fully completed and those involved are now trying to line up the next steps and actually make a practical plan to enable the necessary actions. While I understand that some segments of the fansbase want to be updated on every single detail as the process goes, in my view that is not always the best path forward. Personally, I would much prefer the club be taking actions based on the review findings, getting together a plan as we move forward, and then updating us with that information without giving away anything that may be sensitive or confidential.

For example (and this is in no way suggesting outcomes as I don't know what they will be) - I would be horrified if the club (or Brad) put out an update now saying "The football club review has found we need to fire our CEO & Football boss, hire Jones but not Bassett, and if Goodwin doesn't make finals he's sacked"... Wouldn't be productive or professional would it? That is an extreme example of course, but I'm totally ok with the club having outcomes planned, incoming people lined up, and actionable changes ready before updating the members.

It's been a rough 12 months for Melbourne supporters and I believe best way forward at the moment is to communicate the club has identified the problems AND the solutions, rather than just rehash the issues again because certain fans want continual updates.

2024 Player Reviews: #42 Daniel Turner

The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury. LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success.
