Re: the review of the process I agree entirely. The specific incident has already been litigated. The AFL and the invloved medical participants wouldn't appreciate the AFLPA dredging up findings that point to negligence, it would get very messy. It would make a lot of sense though if the focus is to develop an improved process/policy. 

Tracc's was severe but there have been many other instances in the last few years alone of players being sent back onto the field with broken ribs that lead to unknown internal  injuries. Mason Cox only last year I think.

That’s why the next 12 months for this football club are vital. Petracca will always put success and finals over crowd sizes. If we can play finals next year and win one or two at the MCG then I highly doubt Trac will seek a trade. FWIW I don’t expect Collingwood to be playing finals next year while I think Carlton has been found out and may again struggle to challenge.

Basically, the only thing Trac has actually said throughout the whole affair is that pre-made packet spinach & ricotta ravioli from his good friends at Casa Della Pasta makes for a great post-workout meal, especially for elite athletes such as himself under pressure to perform while the light is still good. 

Is was then reported that his nonna thinks the MFC is obviously a very bad influence on her cherished angel and clearly hasn't done enough to protect his mental health. She's certain no one at Carlton would have let the situation get so out hand that Christian is now eating pasta barely fit for a dog.

This is usually how it works for out of contract players. The club runs the risk that if it doesn’t accede to the player’s request, the player will put a price on their head when nominating for the draft to ensure they get to their preferred destination, and so the club does a deal to avoid getting nothing at all.

For a contracted player, run the counter factual and assume we say no. What does the player do? Sit out the year in protest? How does that help their cause?

In terms of clarity as to what happens next, it's probably a bit early yet to know. Nonna suggested Christian swap places with that Scottish fellow from Carlton as a better fit all round, but apparently that young Harry boy has been 'typically stubborn' and wants to stay put.

Spot on though the medical fraternity have ticked off inc the afl … though I can see that any suspect chest /rib injury will be straight off  and scan .. some as concussion protocol

Will be interesting what the external review reveals re culture .. & can see heads rolling & confirm what Trac is not happy about

started with I can say anything sorry, elaborated to: 

- Trac wants two of Roffey, Pert, Richardson gone. 
- Senior players disappointed with how Trac let it play out, his parents heavily involved. 
- We are chasing one of WCE forwards pretty hard (didn’t say which one)

Nothing to ground breaking really…

It wouldn't, if a player wants out they make sure their manager can tee up a trade with another club and then go to their current club and for ally request the trade, nominating their preferred club. Clubs have sometimes held players to their contract (Papley, Gibbs, Kelly) but more often than not the player gets their way (Gibbs and Kelly did eventually anyway).

Richardson can’t survive and can’t see Pert lasting more than another year. Get Smith at the end of next season and roll from there

This sort of makes my argument. 

Gibbs had 1 year left on his contract. He would have been traded the year he requested but the deal fell through at the last minute. 

Papley had 4 years left on his contract, so Sydney held him to it. 

Trac is more like Papley than Gibbs. Having 1 year left presents the club with the risk you leave the following year for less/nothing. Very different to a player with multiple years left.

Yes but Papley didn't seek a trade again 12 months later. My feeling is Petracca is likely to at this stage but a lot can change in 12 months. If he does I don't think we'll hold him to his contract.
