I'm usually not one for banging my own drum when I correctly predict an event.

But I'm going to make an exception in this case.

As I predicted, some noise then kick the redemption narrative into gear.

Joe strummer- one of the absolute best

I never doubted you Tracc! 39 touch Norm Smith Medalist and Premiership hero. Hopefully the club can make the changes.

5 year contracts are a real sobering thing…

In all seriousness - some on here will not like it - but we have to have a talk about the captaincy for 2025.

I am not saying there isn’t work to be done but I have been saying for 3 years now that CP5 is the next captain. I want to hold to it.

You need to be a leader who others will respect to be captain.

You’re welcome to DM me but Demonland has asked time and time again not to name certain people in public.

I have nothing to apologize for. He is a great player and I’m glad he’s staying. Just because I don’t like how he’s gone about it doesn’t mean I don’t want him sticking around and helping us get better and back into contention.

You just responsed to me yet again! Aren't I a DH that has only been here 5 months that you can't be bothered wasting time on? Make up your mind pal. You want me to DM you. Really? I'd rather stick pins in my eyes. You have no sources and you run to hide behind the Demonland rules to so as not to be exposed.

Relieved that he signed but just to play devil's advocate; the letter commits to the Dees for 2025. Does not mention the 5 years at all. The club better get it's [censored] in order otherwise the Carlton's and Collingwood will be more prepared and bring more to the table next year.

This is undoubtedly good news

It's news that gives a good vibe... we're all happy happy.

We need to understand this is a case of square pegs/ round holes making the best of an awkward situation.  Do I dare say Trac's been cooking...reached into the pantry and realised he's a little short of recipe requirements !!

This IS good news....for now.

Let's get on with things. Let's play footy.

Is this over ?? I doubt it. It's over for now.

Yay

Go Dees

He is not captaincy material. Jake Lever will be the next skipper. We need a dad figure

Agree. But Pies first-rounder could be not much better than 18 - 20, and even with two years of future firsts hard to see how that gets done.

But the other variables are:

- Trac getting back to his very best after the injury from hell. Not so sure.

- He'll be going on 30 at the end of next season. Not the kind of age where you can build a team around him for 5 years. When Judd moved to Carlton he'd just turned 25.

- That contract. Long and expensive for someone getting into the later stage of his career.

Yeah - just like that useless Sidebottom and Dangerfield. Fancy building a team around them to push towards a flag.

Would've preferred he left after crying like a baby in public for 2 weeks and dragging our club through the mud to appease his own agenda.

I have absolutely no doubt he's been advised he can't get to C & C so he has to stay with us.

If the Pies had 2 top 10 picks to give us,he'd be there in a Heartbeat!!!

You clearly have no idea about club, internal mateship and culture.

Maybe he is that tho.

I think most of the arguments people will come at me with are also arguments against retaining him.

Perhaps.

Whatever the case, I think Max has run his race.

In all seriousness, you can't be serious?

As for a trade not being able to get done. I don’t think that was the case.

Jeremy Cameron went to Geelong for picks 15, 18 & 25.

Dangerfield went to Geelong for picks 9, 28 & Dean Gore.

If Trac still wanted to be traded I think a deal would of gotten done, we wouldn’t of liked it but it would of got done.

Anyone besides me wondering if some in the media will now turn on Trac? And keep beating us up.

OOC vs 5 years left on contract

What’s that clicking and clacking echoing through the high-rises on Collins Street tonight?

Oh, nothing to worry about . . .

Just the lawyers orchestrating their symphony of billable hours.

Good outcome. Perhaps the kind of outcome a well run club would get in trying to navigate its way out of an extraordinary and tricky circumstance.

Shows the media types up for the fools they are .

I honestly would have had no qualms with Trac if he left with how the club handled his injuries, but stoked he is sticking around.

Solid trolling mate. Joined 2 hours ago and trying to get people wound up again subtly.

well played

As someone from Canberra-proper, yes I am serious.

I will admit that this urge is more anti-Gawn than pro-CP5 but if he puts the work in he has to be considered, otherwise he isn’t worth keeping around.

Losing Kozzie would hurt more than Trac

Time to move on...... I know it's quick and you need to process but he helped win us a Flag and he may of just forced the club to make some overdue changes. I also know many on here, including myself, took a few swipes at him but footy remains a game where supporters expect their players to remain steadfastly loyal. That is unless a trade suits us, which this one didn't. Either way I'm back on the Tracc wagon for now, I think you should jump aboard

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
