He's on a very good money. He can just buy another home or rent near Carlton and move back at the end of his career. Money can't buy happiness but problems like that disappear when you have money.

He can rent Max’s old food truck and film TikTok’s on the way to Casey!

Im not buying it’s an issue.

I am buying that he saw our crowds of 15,000 against GWS and Port and said bugger coming back to play for these quitters.

As fans we quit faster than the players did!

I can't get past the fact he says he wants to play for a big Victorian club. It's very disrespectful to the MFC. I don't know how he walks back that remark if a trade can't be done. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive but i can't see myself cheering his name if he lines up for us in round 1 next year.

Prefaced by “I know nothing”

Bit gutted by all this as I have always thought Trac to be a selfless, loyal, really nice person.

Isn’t his fiancé a social media type person - wonder if in his traumatised state and realising the fragile nature of footy, injuries and recovery both mentally and physically he is being advised to look at maximising his online marketing through a large supporter base while he is able. Future post footy.

I had imagined him to be the great support person during Clarrie’s troubles / recovery.

Guess I have been wrong on a lot of fronts.

Hard to see a hugely positive outcome for any stakeholders from the drama.

The elephant in the room for him is that he is 28, turning 29 in January.

I say go bezerk and offer him and Oliver for trade and to a 23-year-old age bracket rebuild and somehow get Harley Reid.

This is almost getting to the point where a person is trying to salvage a relationship while the other partner is out there airing all their laundry.

Edited by Norm Smith's Curse

So Trac signs on for life

Then wants to leave

Likely no reasonable deal can be done

So either we keep a disgruntled player and have negative media for the future or trade him for half his worth to our rivals??

Thanks a lot Trac!

Imagine a world where he’s at another club and boo’d on his return to, should be going down in folklore now this. Dear me, quite tragic

By the way, we took on Paul Connors’ biggest problem child in Hunter and one of his biggest flops in Billings and gifted them a bunch of games and he’s not exactly rewarding us here.

Player managers are such slippery 🐍

Agree.. this was a pathetic turn out. The supporter base should be embarrassed

There could be more than one club interested in Petracca.

Ideally, due diligence would come into drafting a star but there’s also the thought of a competitor getting the jump.

So far the club,  including Goody, have played their hand well.

This ain't coming from his manager...

Seriously why does no one get this by now?

No - signing a long contract did not indicate he was accepting of the Casey commute or our low crowds.

When he signed for 7 years, it provided him financial security. That is the ONLY purpose of a contract to a player.

Contracts have rarely prevented a player from leaving as once they lodge a trade request, very few clubs would destabilise themselves or set the precedent for future player retention by holding a player against their will, and instead will work to get what they can.

Sorry but I’m of the opinion that there should be a bit of honesty & loyalty from a player that the club club has invested 10 million dollars in over 7 years.

The club is bigger than the individual, if you’re happy about him wanting to play in front of bigger crowds and a closer training base good for you, go follow the individual

Really disappointed in the way our Norm Smith medalist , and home grown premiership hero has leaked his situation to the press, most likely as a deliberate ploy through his management creating nothing but angst to the club that gave him everything and the supporters that loved him, even after the terrible luck we’ve had with Brayshaw etc etc.

If true , not the man I thought he was at all.

He just hacked Tom Morris's email account, and he got that from Demonland.

See also Dusty

After what happened that night in July 2012 with Dusty and Daniel Connors, I am sure Richmond "held all the cards" over Dusty. They could have quite easily terminated his contract that night (as they did with Connors) and in turn over the years, Dusty probably felt he owed the Club. More quid pro quo between Richmond and Dusty I reckon, compared to the genuine loyalty that guys like Bont and Robbie have championed

Oh yeah hows this working for you both?

Funny how you've completely turned on Petracca WCW. Stating he's a 'Diva' because supposedly he wants to play in big crowds..

Bit hypocritical considering you're the first to smash anyone on here that says anything remotely negative about any player and here you are throwing shade at him. The guy suffering mental health and you're calling him a Diva.. classy.

Maybe Tom Morris was right all along eh?

Not turning on Petracca at all. I’ve never liked him. A few DL-ers can attest to this since I’ve shared my feelings about it privately for two years now, rather than publicly.

Do you know him at all? Clearly you don’t because if you did you’d know he’s got his own interests way ahead of the Club’s.

Despite not liking him though, I was very confident he would stay and I hoped he would stay which is why I hated having to hear all the misery-mongers leading up to that point in time, a time when no one knew what he’d decide to do.

PS: I find it amusing, also a little disturbing, but not surprising that you would take the time to find particular posts from two weeks ago purely out of spite. Your post serves no other purpose.

You really are a spiteful, petty little person, aren’t you.

The latest from 7News. Apparently, Petracca did not commit in his exit interview. Now Casey venue is a problem.

https://7news.com.au/sport/afl/christian-petracca-no-certainty-to-remain-at-melbourne-as-trade-speculation-ramps-up-c-15835017

and tom morris doubled down on ch9 news saying petracca had again asked the club to go elsewhere

I think it goes back to the finals last year. I think he saw what playing against Collingwood and Carlton really means in finals and figured he doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to perform on the big stage in front of a hostile crowd.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
