I hate Collingwood as much as the next person but they are so much more than Nick Daicos.

I agree BA. They would be in the top four without ND. Vs the bottom five we find ourselves in.

Absolutely. Chandler has to go - he is the kind of player that kids you into thinking he's valuable (and many dees supporters fall for that), but Collingwood would never pick up someone like Kade Chandler - he "tries" but doesn't "do" or "create" or "stay in the game"
Please god get rid of Chandler - the role he plays running is so important and was done incredibly well by Neal-Bullen, and we've just replaced him with Chandler ad-hoc, but we can do so much better - it's such a critical position to connect with fowards and stay in the game. Sparrow has done it much more effectively this year.

Hashtag - the Chandler delusion has to end. Sorry Chin fans, please ask yourself what you really value about him. Don't be fooled by his "trying" and "battling". Neal Bullen was a "battler" but he was a far more balanced, potent and contributing player. Please for the love of God Chin fans, have a hard look at yourselves before you murder this post with your fraternal Chin wagging

We have a ton of problems. A ton of them, and some of them start at the very top of the football department chain.

However, the Kade Chandlers of the world, who probably commands $250K a year and provides good value for money in terms of his output, shouldn't be the "poster boy" as to why we've been a dismal football side since round 10 last year, as you've espoused above.

Yes they are, but he is a game changer, ability is one thing to have but his work rate coupled with that makes him a very special player in the Ablett jnr mould.

He would change any team overnight

He has lost the players. During our premiership contention years, we would get outplayed or outcoached but we always showed up to play. Not today. This is Bailey and Neeld era stuff.

It’s time for Goodwin to go . He and a number of other Senior players seem satisfied with their 2021 Premiership win ( and Club “legend” status ) and quite frankly lack any real hunger for more premierships. He is too close to too many players and at the same time has lost the team. The two propositions may seem at first contradictory but they are not. We need someone fresh , with new ideas, hungry for a Premiership, and who can reset the relationship between players and Coach.

So accurate. They look worse than Carlton.

Monday morning, pack your bags and leave Simon.

Yes for Caaaarysst sake

Goodwin is done, he is stale, the list is stale and all the younger players look like they hate the place. The club needs to cut their loses with Goodwin before we end up in the wilderness for the next decade.

Question really needs to be is it the coach or the players. I think with the group as it is it wouldn’t matter who was coaching we wouldn’t be a contender, having said that I think Goodwin has consistently underperformed throughout his coaching career (outside of 2021) we might not be a contender atm but we certainly should be more consistent than we have been this season which seems to be a running thing under Goodwin since day 1, you just don’t know which version of Dee’s will turn up week to week.

I think the dominance of max, petracca et al has hidden our lack of a system in general play. Now that they are becoming a little battle weary, our lack of a system is being highlighted. Max wins plenty of the ball but we should be taking it away much more.

As with every new President and CEO coming into a football club they want their own man.

I think the equally most important question is here what are the lengths of contract of our assistances?

We couldn't possibly payout Simon and 4 or 5 assistants.

Chocco, Chaplin, Bassett, Jones etc.

While your at it take that fraud Selwyn Griffiths with you and his contract.

48-49 W/L 48-39* since the flag. 9-18 since Round 11 last year. With several 50+ point defeats. Still people will defend the coaches.

Never underestimate the effect a coach has ON players.

There is undeniable talent on the list ( though arguably not as great a list as some suppose ) but the current folk in charge only manage what we witness, which is quite frankly rubbish football.

They need a fresh voice and some new ideas. Someone who lights a fire underneath them and promotes a fighting never-say-die culture rather than a mate who’s a coach. We need to develop some C.

Is that a 4 letter word ending in t?

Asking for a friend.

This Team beat last Year’s Premier and were 1 Point off the Filth.

They can play, but they choose when to play.

That is definitely on the Coach and to a lesser degree the Captain

The internal standards are not high enough

Goodwin should do the honourable thing and step down tonight

We need new leadership in the Football Department NOW….

Back your bag Goody, we need change. Start the search now and have the coach ready before preseason starts

There'll definitely be a lot of learnings to take out of this one. Namely not allowing the opposition a 37 point head start on the back of zero structure and effort.

With this club, it is either losing after conceding a massive deficit in the first quarter then putting in a valiant effort in the final 3 qtrs in a 3-4 goal loss or inaccuracy. There are no other methods of losing.

The Carlton game last season still pisses me off going scoreless and losing by less than a kick in the end. St Kilda average like 70 pts a game in 2025 and we allowed them to kick 6 in the first quarter.

It is a continuous pattern since the flag. Season on the line and we dish out that first quarter tripe. What a complete and utter joke!

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
