Oliver Trade Rumours

I reckon you could make a fair case that DH's like Sam Manure deliberately seek to cause disruption. You only had to see their disappointment when CPL came back into the fold. Are they fully responsible? Absolutely not. But they are very keen to destabilize the club.

Media been trying to destabilize the club for 2 years now. Scum.

Sure but the fact that they have done it so successfully is because of a long list of own goals.

The problem that I need to overcome now is that sadly I have completely lost trust in the people running the club. I get that at every club there is a large degree of spin, carefully worded comms and positive messaging sent by the club leaders which I understand is super important in building the membership base and maintaining their support. But the events of the past year or so have me finally feeling more like a foolish, gullible [censored] for believing it all rather than the optimistic, supportive member I usually am. I’m pretty sure I am not alone here. Bit like a bad long term relationship I imagine. Heart says “all good, travelling beautifully” but the brain says “you have got to be kidding”.

I usually get really angry at supporters threatening to cancel memberships and burn scarves etc. However, right now, I can’t say I blame them one bit. Make no mistake, we are yet again perceived as the laughing stock of the competition (a position I thought we had left behind us a few years ago.)

How is it our skipper consistently manages to front the press, tell it like it is (be it good or bad) and come away with most people’s respect and understanding for the honesty?

How can our highly educated and incredibly experienced club execs seem to lack such skills to the point that members will now struggle to believe anything that comes out of their mouths.

Has any club self destructed so badly in such a short period of time since a flag?

All I want is for the constant spin to stop (starting with the B & F tomorrow night) , some honesty, some transparency and to be treated with some modicum of respect. Once this mess is behind us, and hopefully very soon, if the club do these things I will be back on for the ride. For me, the next few months are critical as to how I feel about this club moving forward and I really feel so upset even saying this.

Oh please don't speak for all of us. I certainly do not know exactly whats happening at all.

I'm certainly not basing any of my understanding or opinions on media speculation or assumptions that keep being made by posters here.

You missed the sarcasm there fella

I've been a fan my whole life and a  member for the last 15 years consecutive. If Oliver goes to Geelong I'm done.

Why? What if the teams get better? Who knows what the future holds. Nobody saw ‘21 coming. Sometimes you’ve got to make moves to improve.

Has anyone asked the question why Clayton was at the Brownlow? If there really was a strict set of guidelines to be met this year then why were we more than happy to let him go?

Wait what were the strict set of guidelines? Is this going off of media speculation?

Because they’re all corporates who have had years of talking the company line. Blah, Blah, Blah. Listening to Gary Pert is like listening to the guy from Santos telling us we’re not getting screwed on gas royalties. It’s all just words and spin, I doubt many of them have any idea of the damage they do.

While Petracca is overseas, Oliver has been urged by friends to front up for the event even as he attempts to complete a remarkable move to Geelong in the AFL trade period which starts Monday

What a surprise. The headlines are inflammatory [censored], but all the average nuffies see and take it as truth.

I’m wondering whether he was even meant to be there? Was he on the MFC table? Lots of photos from the club of Gawn, Viney, Lever & May but none of Clayton.

Anyone there able to shed any light on whether Oliver was on the MFC table?

Cats will only pay full amount if draft cost is lower, or will only pay higher draft cost if Dees kick in some salary relief (duh).

Cats biding their time, our public position on a trade hasn't changed, and we may still keep Oliver. He wants to leave but a trade will be hard.

Any trade complicated by Smith trade

When it's all said and done, I can't see how the club comes out of this without looking like a steaming pile! They either:

a) lose the support of a lot of members by shipping Clarry to Geelong for sod all or,

b) lose supporters/credibility by retaining him and setting themselves up as a cultural mire target for years to come.

On top of this, the media is applying maximum pressure to feed their narrative/create new headlines.

Hard to take

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
