The Pies can have him

F1 and second rounder at least

He won’t be the difference although a good player

It’s really disappointing.   Dees had him interested and it was likely we were his preferred destination.  Now he’s off to probably either the filthy Pies or the arrogant Blues.  FFS.  This whole Petracca & Oliver mess has caused us damage.  It’s a mess !!!

Thanks Sandra, and now it's over to Livinia for last week's weather ...

Not for mine. Pick 5 plus trade to get another first rounder and take that to the draft. Much better for the club long-term than another player in his late 20's (or getting there).

We're going to be losing a LOT of our key players over the next 4-5 years, starting with Melksham and McDonald next year, May the following year, Gawn and Viney the year after that.

VIC POWERHOUSE ALL BUT RULED OUT OF HOUSTON RACE

Carlton appear almost certainly out of the race for dual All-Australian Dan Houston, as Collingwood’s bid for the Power star strengthens.

The Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph reported on Thursday morning that given the Blues’ assurance they will head to the draft with their first-round pick, their ability to acquire Houston at an optimal price for Port Adelaide seems long gone.

Subsequently, it now looks as if only the Magpies and North Melbourne can move him out of Alberton.

And while the Kangaroos are obviously behind the Pies in the pecking order, their favourable draft hand and openness to trade a future first-round pick leaves them still in the hunt.

Joe Richards’ request to leave Collingwood for Port Adelaide has assisted the Pies’ negotiations on Houston significantly, with Ralph also reporting that “extensive meetings” have taken place between the Power, Magpies and Houston’s management in the last 24 hours.

Houston has not officially nominated a club of choice, but it is the understanding of most at this stage that Collingwood is a preferred destination.

Interesting how the whole AFL media fraternity are ramping up Houston to the Filth for steak knives and a future 1st.

I think you will find Joe Richards to the Power is what will get the deal done with 13 and whatever else.

Seems like the Pies are going all in to try for another flag now. They will be in bad shape when Tassie sucks out the best of the draft and trade market in a few years time.

Why aren’t we offering F1 and 28 and F3  for suns 13 and 23???

Agree, as they have one of, if not the oldest list in the AFL.

They won't be able to replace the older players with high end talent on Tassie's arrival.

So, looking like a 3-team deal between Pies, GC and PA

Players involved would be Noble (GC), Richards and Lukosius (PA) and Houston (COLL) with obvious pick swaps

I’m sure we would be. But zero chance the Suns would take that deal

Im sure we would be offering a better deal than that for pick 13 also

Isn’t our 28 + F3 better than Noble.

we could chuck in a 3rd round this year

GC want pick 13 to go to Port, so they can freely trade their F1 to GC for Lukosius.

Because we don’t need Houston and he doesn’t want play with us ! You have read this I am sure.

I’m terribly saddened at that prospect.

<aybe or around the same but the Pies won't have that offer accepted.

Collingwoods F1 is unders for pick 13.

It's not often that decent players want to get to the Suns. They'll "overpay" to make Rioli and Noble happen like they did with Weller.

GWS and GC still have draft picks out the ying-yang because of the flow on from their concessions and players leaving. Draft picks are less valuable to them because they have plenty.

F1 + Noble probably gets 13 + 29. A good deal for Collingwood.

They have 12 players that will be 29yo or over at the start of the season 2025. I'd say they are putting all their eggs in the one basket

30 Moore,

De Goey also will be 29 in March.

Maynard 29 during finals next year.

Markov 29 in May.

They are going to cop a big talent hit over next couple of years.

Prob lucki Houston doesn’t want to come to us cause we would prob give pic 5 (cause we are easy to deal with) which would be not a good outcome for us.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
