It's not unsalvageable though. 5 minutes with Maxy and I'm sure DH would have a better understanding of everything.

Stop it LOL

Max would have already had discussions with him

So, it's not true about him being a self-centred sook?

You gave up 6 for Cerra and he's proved mediocre at best.

Your 1st this year will end up being 13 or 14, next year might be higher if Tassie take a slice.

AA last two years, Houston is easily worth 2024 #14 and 2025 #17

Man, you need to stop smoking the bucket bong and come back down to earth!

^^ he will be 28 years old next season.

You’re in a “win now” window. You have to be. Your list is primed for a flag. Houston might only give you say 4 years but if you win a flag in that time no one will care, and tbh you should win a flag. A list with Cripps, Curnow, Mackay, Walsh and Weitering shouldn’t be battling just to make finals.

Voss is and remains the impediment to that list winning a flag. Clubs have gone past them with betting coaching and game plans. I absolutely love the fact they basically missed finals with that list. With Cripps turning 30 next season they better get their skates on.

I think a quality tall defender to partner Weitering is more of a missing piece then a half back when we already have solid stocks there with Saad, Docherty (coming back from injury), McGovern, Boyd, young Cowan and young Ollie Hollands who can also play there. I know Houston is quality and his kicking into the forward 50 is what we want but if Weitering goes down our flag tilt is over before it starts.

Now, Sam De Koning would fit into this jig-saw puzzle nicely IMHO ...

I still have some concerns about Voss. He has some good qualities but he can also be stubborn, play favourites with certain players and can get caught out with in game tactical shifts at times. Actually, I think je has a lot of similarities with Goodwin. Some additional tactical support for him wouldn't go astray.

If the Blues don't make the top 4 this season I suspect Voss will be on the way out ...

i'll counter that and say...

he can also be stubborn = confident in his approach

play favourites with certain players = know who he can rely on to perform when it counts

can get caught out with in game tactical shifts at times = backs in his plan to be the one that works

these three things apply to EVERY SINGLE AFL COACH

Somehow they think they'll get pick 13 for Noble and be able to trade that houston 🤣🤣🤣

they well may do, as they don't want pick 13 - lombardo is ranked a top 10 likelihood to be bid on - but do want a future first in exchange for it

Gold Coast holds pick 41. That looks a bit closer to the mark.

Pick 13 ha ha ha

Injuries permitting they will be challenging for the flag next year. They had a horrid offseason last year with injuries, their list is primed.

Joe Richards just requested a trade to Port, so you can safely assume Pies will get Houston, using Richards and Noble trade return, to get the deal done, with maybe some steak knives pick swapping.

Are we still in this? Future first for GC pick 13 is more enticing than Collingwood and Carlton can offer GC.

We could then offer 13 and 28 for Houston.

GWS and Richmond the ones we have to beat I think for GC #13.

GC would be mad to do that

Yes, even 13 + 29 for F1 and Noble would be a good deal for Collingwood.

Did a quick calculation - those 3 picks buy pick 5 with the 20% discount so yes ...

We're not really in the hunt for Houston, and it would be negligent list management to pursue it further given the asking price. We've now hit the point where we need to rebuild and look to the future, not blow high draft capital on a 28 year old flanker.

Procure pick 13 if possible, then take picks 5 and 13 to draft to find the next Petracca and Brayshaw star types to build our clubs future around alongside Windsor, Kozzie, JVR, Rivers and Mcvee.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
