Same prefix. Different suffix. One painful. One not (well so far).

I also think Tmac is the obvious ruckman fitness wise as it just CANT be JVR, but seems as though it’ll be Petty/Turner combo as TMac likely needed for 2m-Peter or Jones..

Petty back would be only way TMac plays ruck — I’d prefer this based on how fwd line looked LW.

I thought tmac still had issues that allow him to play well in defence running forward.  But manoeuvrability still a problem preventing him being effective around the ground and forward.

Jvr won't be hitting the scoreboard if he spends more time rucking.

A fascinating game coming up.

I am preemptively declaring this as the worst umpired game of the season.
The list of umpires is as inspiring as a wet sock.

Checking in from a music festival in Basque country. (#not a humblebrag, but maybe a bit probably ).

The last two days I've seen Massive Attack, Air, Underworld and Prodigy (and Grace Jones).

There has to be some tea leaves among that lot. ?

I don’t think so.

But maybe to avoid a teardrop the sexy bit of the team can be born slippy and smack my [censored] up. My [censored] of course being the Scott brothers…

We must be careful to not be slaves to the rythym however…

As a rule, I have worried about our form trailing to the 'also rans'. Our new look (that DL enthusiasts begged for, for months and months) has finally seen the penny drop as far as the coaches are concerned, and including our personnel loses of late, it is possible to feel confident that we can beat Essendrug whose ability is inflated. Dees by about 20 points. (Channel 7 commentators, commenting on tonight's game stated clearly that Essendrug would win the match, as they need only teams with large memberships to make it to the finals. This explains much of their commentary this year and perhaps, the influence that the bigger clubs wield over the media expenditures, umpiring decisions and game conduct assessments for the majority of the competing teams).

Last night showed how low the Pies are at the moment c.f. last year so bombers still haven't beaten anyone yet on which I'm hanging my confidence hat tonight

McDonald warming up with the midfielders, likely he will be doing a bit of the ruck work tonight

The drizzle looks enchanting under the lights.

My phone is saying no rain, it’s dry, no precipitation. How come I’m getting wet?

They use one of those pizza cutters.

Oh no. Oh no. I was not ready for Kozzie Pickett's tiny baby in a full koala onesie to keep warm in the rain.

That is superb and no matter what else happens tonight that is getting the 6 votes from me postgame.

Am I calm because I’m quietly confident of a good win by the boys, with likely a big role played by our kids, or because I’m blissfully ignorant of being taught another lesson by the bombers?

Guess we’ll find out soon!!!

(i think we win tonight, big game from Kozzy and Clarry and Petty will play a big part as well).

let’s go!! 🔥💙❤️

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
