Exactly how I would have gone and how I thought we'd go.

Petty, JVR and Disco 10 minutes each per quarter.

Happy with this and excited to see how we go with it.

Told you, you would be be close to the mark, spot on.

You could be right. Who do you have as rucking?

Same bloke who pinch hits now possibly. But you wouldnt have him all game.

Perhaps Petty pinch hits for the pinch hitter ?

Perhaps more by 'area'..  maybe Roo takes the rucks forward of middle... Tmac aft of centre.. or.. i really don't know tbh ( cue the comments...lol )

Someone has to compete or you might as well just get the umps to hand ball to nearest Bomber tall !!!

There's no obvious all day ruck nominated so it has to be a group of fill-ins. Any which way I'm not filled with enthusiam let alone confidence.

Who is the sub though? Woewodin again I guess - but I feel sorry for the kid. He's got talent and I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if he wanted out, maybe even back to WA.

I reckon Kolt is a chance. ran out of legs

Woey needs to show more to get regular game time. If we had more midfield depth he would not be near the 22 imo

If we lose it’ll be lost at selection to the regular gang on here

If we win, was it won at selection?

of course not!

Hey @WalkingCivilWar, please quote me on a post I made 'bagging' a player?

Bet you can't.

Maybe spend less time trying to policing this joint and more time accepting that not every supporter needs to be a 'fan-girl' of everything MFC eh?

Chief superintendent detective inspector @WalkingCivilWar. I’m liking it a lot.

I just saw the side we named and my first thought was that they're looking for Petts to be our main marking target around the ground to cover that aspect of Maxy's game. Whatever he can do for us at centre bounces will be a bonus. All contingent on his body holding up of course.

Fascinating Selections

Personally i think The Coaches have worked out a set plan, that will hopefully unsettle Essendrug

This will be a “Team Game”

Stakes are high for a win here….

I’m really angry, apparently Petty & JVR will be sharing the rock duties

WTF is Goodwin doing, Petty is useless in the ruck & our forward line functioned well without him & JVR really growing as a key forward.

Whats the point of having Fullerton & Verrell for that matter if they’re not getting a game when Max is out!!!!

Seriously what the hell

Suggest you write a letter to the Herald Sun mate.

Crows beat St Kilda by 10 goals plus with Trent Ormond-Allen in the ruck somewhere late 1990s.

I have to question why Fullarton is on our list.

To clog it by the looks of it.

If not now then when?

I'll reserve judgement in this. I can see both sides of why this could either work or not.

No one ever thought Cam Pederson would turn into Polly Farmer when he had to ruck all by himself back in 2017 when Maxy missed with a hamstring, so let's see what Petty has to offer, the mobility around the ground is probably why I think it could work.

My next question though is why the hell did we go out and recruit Tom Fullarton.  I was never a fan of the this recruitment right from the very start simply because he lacked the basic physical presence to be a ruckman.

If he isn't going to get a game when our main ruckman goes down then we either bite the bullet and delist at the end of the year or he looks for other opportunities. Hate using this term but he's a true definition of a list clogger at this stage.

To tell the truth, i actually didn't in the end.

I put you in my dl purgatory level - read the posts, no emojis and no quoting.

I have enjoyed your posting and appreciated how balanced you were during the annual bye phase form drop off

You're officially out of purgatory now that I have quoted you.

I guess selection this week shuts down the goody is too predictable thread

….
Playing Petty in the ruck; Goodys running amok!
He’s lost it big time - I can’t make it rhyme.
He used to look good to me
But now I find him
Simply unpredictable?

Perhaps the Dees have been secretly training Petty as a ruckman. Turner has now become our new forward influencer and to his credit can be used in defence. It is about time Goody has been more daring.

I think we go for the old 'let opposing ruckman catch the ball up' then tackle them.

We'll have a great team performance.

And a bunch of oh there buzz words that so many here seem to love.

No. This is no time for a First Game Player to be dictating center bounces.
Goodwin has a strategy in place, let’s hope it works….

Indeed.

And even his critics surely acknowledge he's got runs on the board this season with his left field selections.

Tmac in two weeks after ankle surgery. And selected as a defender at that.

Bbb of a limited preseason was a factor in a couple of early wins.

Howes was excellent for rge first 8 weeks or so.

Turner as a forward and doing ok

Melk straight into the ones after 12 months out and being one of our best players.

The kolt not really left field I guess, but still it was yet another young player in the side.

This is reminding me of the Biden debate, “should he stay or should he go”?

Just on the bombers side, their defence is quite undersized with Laverde out. They’ve got McKay (202cm), Ridley (195cm but more a lever type player) and then Redman 187cm.

I would definitely be looking to exploit that if I were the coaches.

Problem with that is you can bet Essendin will protect the bounce,/throw in. Its a free hit if they do.

Tbh im just as cautious about Heppel coming back and having a blinder.

Not liking this game Sam, not liking it I am.

Well, a 19 game player. Also 25 y.o.

Don't see him getting a chance.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
