MFC - Kick the (bloody) ball

Jones - let's clone him

Johnson - So long Jamar

In my eyes, Nathan Jones is now on a level with Bartram as a newcomer, and we will here a lot about the Mclean/Jones midfield group into the future.

I thought Godfrey did a decent tagging job which continues his great vein of form but again his footskills let him down.

turned it over too often for direct goals.

His turnovers hurt mfc more then his great tagging jobs.

Frawley/Garland is further proof that if u don't have form on the board, u'll b found out in the seniors. Newton should be nxt in line.

i dont quite get why everyone roasts Godders kicking...its no worse than most in red and blue ( which I concede is not that flsh at times ) but some of his passing was amongst the better weighted kicking all day!!

Does poor Simon Godfrey have a target on his stomach that says "punch me, I'm a tagger"?

I know his disposal is awful, but you gotta respect a man who gets up every time he is hit behind the play and goes about his business like nothing happened.

Lesser men would start a fight and get in trouble. He just gets up and carries on.

Godfrey's best game, Joeboy, are you kidding me?

He comprehensively beat S.Burgoyne, Goodes and Scotty West, whilst yesterday he let Harvey have 25 possessions.

Open your eyes mate.

I think people are under-rating Brock's performance.

Coming back from 8 weeks out, playing approx. 60% of the game and still racked up 22possessions and 6 first-possessions at the stoppages highlights the great-mans importance. He is the clearance king for us, better then Junior and better then Jones will ever be. Credit where credit's due for Chook.

I want to back up Nasher's post #41, Jones does need to work on his disposal alot, had 2 shots at goal before he slotted the big one, and missed both. A couple of his handballs were behind his team-mate.

Try 22, with 4 clearances and 9 tackles in only 56% game time, with about 60% fitness.

I know that my obsession with him is bordering on unhealthy, but gees that is some good stats. He is a star in the making!

He also makes Jones better.

Your obsession is justified I just hope Brock and Jones can play out the season, I think they compliment each other beautifully.

Throw in Moloney and Bruce and it looks good. I just hope it happens.

I'm starting to get tired of seeing brad miller play. How can an AFL footballer be afraid to kick the ball? When he was forced to kick it was often not the right option or he'd just kick the ball as far as he could. Needs to prove his worth at Sandy, its time to give Newton a go or play lynden dunn there.

Don't think it was Godfrey's best game, his disposal was woeful at times and Harvey was pretty influencial.

i agree, but i cant help but think that it must be a direct instruction from the coaches, otherwise they would be telling him to kick.

a question for those who have seen him play at sandy, does he play a similar role to what he plays for the dees?

I said it on here a while back, and I'll say it again. Jones is going to be a star. Maybe even on par with the great Brock Mclean. Here is a guy with less than 20 games under his belt, and he is in there smashing his way to get at the ball, and is not intimidated by anyone in his path. He's been copping a fair few bumps behind play recently I've noticed, and it's getting obvious that oppositions are starting to rate him as highly as we are. He is just so determined, and he is showing alot of leadership out there for someone so young. Twice this season he has kicked a great goal and fired up to nearly get us over the line the last quarter (see Port Adelaide and North Melb matches). His one flaw is his kicking, which while isn't perfect, isnt that bad anyway. With time it will get there, and when it does, we are going to have another fantastic midfielder on our hands. The thought of Brock and Jones in the midfield together is another to make any Dee supporter salivate.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
