  1. Whist disappointed that Chris chose to leave the MFC, i am understanding. Chris was willing to sign a contract all year and the MFC put off offering him a contract until after trade week. When there was no substantial offer for Chris during trade week, the mfc came groveling back to Chris and offered him a one year contract. Where is the loyalty to Chris from the mfc? So, whilst the MFC were shopping round Chris, Chris' management were willing to 'test the market' and see whether their client was going to get a better offer. Chris received an offer for 2 years from Carlton, as opposed to a one year offer from MFC. Players don't get an infinite number of opportunities to play AFL, so when you are blessed with one, you should closely consider it. Chris has chosen what's best for his own career, and i think it is disgraceful that we can admonish him for that. We must acknowledge that football is, first and foremost, a business. The MFC were willing to get rid of Chris for a price that would benefit the MFC, whilst Chris has been willing to leave the MFC for a price that would benefit Chris.
  2. Played footy against Chris Dawes (collingwood), thought he was a dud. i stand corrected. Played footy against Junior Rioli, thought he was a freak. i stand corrected. How do i apply for a mfc recruiting job?
  3. good luck to them. Notwithstanding his personal issues, he's a champion footballer and i wish him all the best in his pursuit to play afl football in 2009.
  4. I've had a little bit to do with Ozzie at a footy level, and i am thankful that he is not working for the MFC. The bloke is a dead set [censored]. He was involved in some school football in a similar role to that he was going to be employed at the mfc, and his role in this was deplorable. If he could not organise a school football team then what hope does he have at AFL level, thank-you ozzie for going back to TAC football.
  5. Chris Johnson is still yet to be offered a new contract by the club. If that's not a sign that the club is willing to trade him, then i don't know what is. Mitch Clark signed a contract this year for Brisbane, so won't be traded. Ed Barlow finished his season being dropped from the Sydney Swans reserves team, before a late change in the grandfinal led to him playing it. No thanks. I understand that Brent Reilly is under contract or been offered a new contract. Sam Butler has struggled with groin injuries since the '05 grandfinal. No thanks.
  6. Cale not playing any meaningful role next year? First you come up with all this fancfiful crap and you cannot even dignify Cale with a place in the team. You've lost the plot.
  7. i will be basking in the never-ending sun of thailand during february, so cannot make it. Hopefully Wise Monkey can instill some more cohesion into our victorious unit.

  9. I'm assuming that West Coast has tried to trade Cousins and no club wanted him, then West Coast delists him.. If so, that doesn't make too much sense, as if one club is not willing to take a punt on a superstar, albeit a wayward one. I will be amazed if Cousins goes into the PSD. Amaze me YM, amaze me!
  10. WA - an indigenous ruckman who is ineligible to be drafted this year (too young) who beat Kruezer when playing in the U18 Champs this year. He's one of many who made lasting impressions on recruiters and should go early in 2008.
  11. After everything is done and dusted, through all the jealousy towards Carlton and disappointment with Judd himself etc. I would have loved to have seen C.Judd leading Melbourne through the banner on the MCG, he is a deadset superstar who will improve Carlton (i assume) out of sight. The impact he will have on the footy club is phenomenal, he will instantly inspire many to work harder and give confidence to all those who play around him, increase sponsorship, media exposure and membership numbers, not to mention the impact he will have on game day. Although he will. hopefully, end up at Carlton (and not Collingwood!) i will always be willing to go to a game purely to watch a fully fit Judd playing. Goodluck Juddy
  12. Trade week '05 - How i remember thinking: 'Sewell - why would we want that spud?' Turns out one is a handy AFL player and the other a handy VFL player. If only we'd been able to do the trade.
  13. We've gotta take best available. If CAC believes its a ruckman or KPP or midfielder, it doesn't matter, just take the best player!! Maybe take a midfielder, then bottom out and take Nantanui next year.. that's the Carlton way.
  14. Jed would have to be the number 1 preference on that list, however, i don't think he'll be available. Dunn has done nothing to excite anyone in 4 years on a list - no thanks Graham has signed a new contract this year. The tigers won't give up Polo or McGuane, they are some of their better prospects. Nor will the Kangaroos give up Lower. No thanks to Tenace, Gwilt, Sweeney I'd take Sherman, Buchannan, Murphy and maybe White.. but didn't Dean Bailey say that we'd be limited players in trade-week anyway?
  15. I can't wait until chilliboy comes out of 'retirement' to tell us that ryan houlihan or someone of that ilk will be with us next year.. Ohh wait, we've got YM to do that for us anyway!
  16. Unfortunately myself, riv and weatherman cannot make it this time. Goodluck fellas, and do us proud!
  17. Going on the footage shown on Channel 9 News tonight of the fight in Grandfinal week last year at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Melbourne, Vossy will at least be able to teach Melbourne players how to fight.
  18. Watching ND on Channel 10, Byron would have to be a dead-set certainty to play. Yze and Wheels to come into close consideration too.

  20. In "The Age" stats, it shows Belly had 10 spoils.
  21. I sit in the mcc week in, week out. And i like to think i buck the trend when it comes to mcc supporters. Because a considerable amount are just plain stupid. I am fed up with supporters moaning and groaning whenever Ward, Bell, Green and to a lesser extent Brown stream out of the backline to have absolutely no options at CHF to kick to. Yesterday, on countless occasions we'd burst out of our defensive 50m and be confronted with Hamish McIntosh and another of the Roos' midfielders across our half-forward line, forcing our rebounding defenders to go short, sideways or backwards. This is greeted with jeers and mumurs of discontent with the un 'football' educated supporters of the mcc and surrounding areas. 'Kick it long!' 'stop mucking around' Dumb supporters. They've got no option to kick to. Why kick it a 3 on 1?? I'd rather see us kseep hold of the footy, then kick to the 3 on 1 and watch the defenders have the ball sail over their heads on the rebound. This is why i like Doggy Brown, he consistently plays on and breaks the lines, kicking it over CHF and thus eradicating this dilema (sp?) Had we the skill and pace of the Bulldogs, we could afford to play on at all cost, 'run and carry', so to speak. But we don't and thus are compelled to chip it short and wait for a better option. Rant over.
  22. Godfrey's best game, Joeboy, are you kidding me? He comprehensively beat S.Burgoyne, Goodes and Scotty West, whilst yesterday he let Harvey have 25 possessions. Open your eyes mate. I think people are under-rating Brock's performance. Coming back from 8 weeks out, playing approx. 60% of the game and still racked up 22possessions and 6 first-possessions at the stoppages highlights the great-mans importance. He is the clearance king for us, better then Junior and better then Jones will ever be. Credit where credit's due for Chook. I want to back up Nasher's post #41, Jones does need to work on his disposal alot, had 2 shots at goal before he slotted the big one, and missed both. A couple of his handballs were behind his team-mate.
  23. I thought he battled yesterday. First kick was a killer for his confidence, and his kicking style leaves a lot to be desired. And he didn't look that quick either. On the other hand, Colin Sylvia had a worse debut, had one handball and looked diabolically out of his depth. The pace of the game was too quick for him that day and IMO, so too, for his first 4 or 5 game. But he's come along way since that outing, coincidentally, against the Kangaroos too. I agree that Frawley should ply his trade as a defender this week and hopefully keep his spot for the rest of the year.
  24. James McDonald was on him at the boundary throw-in that resulted in him kicking the goal. Importantly, however, his was not goal-side of his oponent. Silly mistake.
  25. 1. Slyvia had an ice-pack strapped to his hammy at the end of the game.. With the way we're going he'll have torn his hammy off the bone.
